Check Out Shawn And Lauren Sparks’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shawn And Lauren Sparks

Hi Shawn and Lauren, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Lauren and I have always believed in walking the path God lays before us, even when the road is uncertain. Our journey has been one of faith, obedience, and the unwavering belief that with His guidance, extraordinary things are possible.

In 2015, we felt a strong calling to create something meaningful—a wedding venue that would not only celebrate the joy of marriage but also serve as the foundation for a marriage-focused ministry. We started our company and began searching for the perfect property, trusting that God would lead us to the right place. For three years, we prayed, searched, and waited patiently until we found it—an incredible piece of land in Tomball, Texas. That land became Sandlewood Manor.

The road to Sandlewood Manor’s completion was anything but smooth. We faced theft, construction delays, and the unexpected challenges of a global pandemic. Yet, through every trial, we held fast to our faith. God’s blessings poured out, and Sandlewood Manor flourished, becoming a beacon of beauty, joy, and ministry.

As our hearts continued to pray for the next chapter, another opportunity arose—a second venue near the famous Champions Golf Course. After much prayer and reflection, we stepped forward in faith and, in September 2023, Chateau Nouvelle was born. Major renovations transformed the venue into a luxurious space rivaling anything Houston has to offer. The success of Chateau Nouvelle has been nothing short of divine—a talented team, an extraordinary chef, and the privilege of hosting clients who inspire us daily.

Both venues have become more than event spaces. They are platforms for Love for a Lifetime, our marriage ministry. From unique, laughter-filled date nights to intimate four-course dinners with inspiring speakers, we strive to help couples deepen their bonds and thrive in their marriages. Each event is a testament to answered prayers and the power of faith.

Looking back, our story is woven with challenges, triumphs, and abundant grace. Through it all, we remain grateful for God’s guidance, the incredible people He has brought into our lives, and the privilege of helping others celebrate and strengthen their marriages.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey to bring Sandlewood Manor to life was filled with challenges that tested us in ways we could never have anticipated. Entering the wedding and events industry with no prior experience in owning or managing a venue, we quickly realized the road ahead would demand perseverance, faith, and adaptability.

From the very beginning, obstacles seemed to line our path. Theft by our initial construction manager struck early, and the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey brought additional delays. As we navigated the complexities of construction, we encountered setbacks that slowed progress and tested our patience. Just as we thought the hurdles were behind us, the global pandemic upended everything, creating uncertainty not only for us but for the entire events industry.

Even after the physical structure of Sandlewood Manor was complete, the operational challenges were significant. Finding the right team of staff was no small feat. We experienced turnover with chefs, faced strained relationships with neighbors, and struggled to find trustworthy tradespeople for ongoing repairs and maintenance. Each issue presented its own unique test, but through determination and prayer, we pressed forward, committed to our vision.

When the opportunity to purchase Chateau Nouvelle arose, we understood it would be an uphill battle. The acquisition process was nothing short of grueling, spanning over a year as we navigated complex negotiations with the seller and worked tirelessly to address the community’s concerns about the venue’s troubled past. But securing the property was only the beginning.

Once the deal was finalized, it became evident that nearly every aspect of the building required attention. From the basement to the third-floor accommodations, the property needed a complete overhaul to transform it into a venue that matched our vision. Structural repairs, system updates, and cosmetic changes all demanded time and resources. The scale of the renovations grew with each discovery—outdated infrastructure, neglected maintenance, and spaces that needed reimagining to meet the needs of future guests.

Renovations stretched well beyond the expected timeline, a challenge we were not unfamiliar with but still difficult to endure. Every delay was met with determination and the unwavering belief that the final result would be worth the effort. Slowly but surely, the space began to transform.

Through the trials and long hours, we held steadfast to our goal of creating a venue that would inspire joy and host unforgettable celebrations. The journey tested our patience and resolve, but it also deepened our commitment to excellence and to providing a space that would leave a lasting impression on every guest who walked through its doors.

Both ventures have been marked by significant trials, but each has also been a testament to resilience and faith. The lessons learned along the way have shaped us, strengthened us, and reminded us that even the most difficult roads can lead to extraordinary destinations.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Lauren and I have always shared a strong work ethic, a quality that first connected us when we worked together in the energy industry. Over time, we discovered that we thrive not only as individuals but also as a team, constantly inspired by how much the other can accomplish.

Our paths to where we are now were anything but ordinary. My journey has spanned diverse fields—chemical engineering, professional rugby, trading, sales, and entrepreneurship—while Lauren’s background is equally eclectic. With a degree in marketing, she has excelled in acting, singing, modeling, and leading worship. Yet, despite our varied experiences, neither of us ever imagined we’d find ourselves in the wedding and events industry.

What began as a step into unfamiliar territory has become so much more than a business. For us, it’s a calling that satisfies our shared passion for creating, leading, and walking in faith. Every step of this journey has required us to trust in something far greater than ourselves.

One of the hallmarks of our venues is the exceptional service we strive to provide. From shuttle drivers to stewards, doormen to bartenders, and everyone in between, our staff is known for their care, compassion, and dedication. Our chef is nothing short of extraordinary, with a team that boasts the unique honor of having served six U.S. Presidents. We’re hoping to add a seventh to that list!

Above all, we aim to go beyond simply meeting expectations; we want to exceed them. For our clients celebrating their wedding day, our heart extends beyond the event itself. We have a deep desire to see their marriages flourish, which is why we offer not just a venue but also a foundation. Through our ministry, we provide resources and opportunities—date nights, dinners, and events—designed to support and strengthen their relationships long after the vows are exchanged.

For us, it’s not just about weddings; it’s about building connections, fostering love, and creating moments that last a lifetime.

How do you define success?
What we are learning is that success is about far more than personal achievements or financial gain. It’s rooted in purpose, faith, and meaningful impact. Success is defined by:

Faithful Obedience
Pursuing opportunities and challenges that align with a higher calling, trusting in God’s timing, and relying on faith to navigate the unknown.

Creating with Purpose
Using gifts and talents to build something that inspires, uplifts, and serves others, whether it’s a wedding venue, ministry, or a nurturing environment for relationships to thrive.

Leading with Integrity
Building a legacy of excellence by assembling dedicated teams, fostering a culture of care, and modeling hard work, compassion, and humility.

Transformative Relationships
Seeing lives enriched through the connections made—whether it’s a couple celebrating their love, a staff member finding purpose, or a community experiencing the joy of service.

Faithful Stewardship
Viewing success as an opportunity to serve and give back, creating spaces that not only provide a service but also contribute to deeper relationships and spiritual growth.

Enduring Impact
Measuring success by the lasting influence on others: strengthened marriages, unforgettable memories, and a ripple effect of love and encouragement that extends far beyond the present moment.

Success is a journey, not a destination. It’s about staying true to values, embracing challenges with resilience, and finding fulfillment in making a difference in the lives of others.
