Today we’d like to introduce you to Krystal Baskin
Hi Krystal , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Whew…where do I begin? From what I was told, my godmother, shoutout to you for being the one to discover me (lol), Paula Ross, asked my mom if she had heard me sing before, to which she had no clue. The story is that I was discovered singing at church, while I’m guessing the choir was singing of course and I was maybe around 3 or 4 years old.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
You know, honestly, I can’t say that the road hasn’t been easy. I’ve been able to connect with some amazing individuals and have been exposed to some amazing things because of the ability to build relationships. I will say however, that because of some recent changes that have happened in my life, a few opportunities have ended due to changes made within my relationships. With those changes came grieving either the loss or the altered dynamics within those relationships. But, I’ve learned, with the help of the Lord, that my dependency on those relationships caused me not to have to exercise my faith and ultimately help me to put total trust in Jesus, and Him alone.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I believe I’m just a worship leader who’s been afforded the opportunity to be featured on a few gospel artists albums. However, my husband and others would say I’m also a gospel artist because I have had the pleasure to be presented with music from both God as well as a few artists to create my debut album “Holy” that will be coming out in the near future which I believe I’m most proud of, outside of my relationship with Jesus Christ alongside being married to the most amazing man in my world and being afforded the opportunity to parent some equally amazing children with him!
I honestly can’t say what sets me apart from others in the gospel music industry, It’s simply my hope that we are all a part of this same industry with the same goal in mind, spreading the good news across the world so everyone can have an opportunity to get to know Jesus Christ for themselves and build a solid relationship with Him.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Integrity. I believe that’s the one characteristic needed to be able to live out what I sing about. Now hear me and hear me well, because we’re all humans and we have sin nature, we’re bound to mess up. However, integrity has it where when you mess up you fess up and you get back on the right track. So, yes, integrity is what’s most important to anyone’s success really. It’s essential for living a life pleasing to God.
