Meet Anissa Ansley of Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anissa Ansley

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Anissa Ansley, a Transformation Coach, Podcaster, Speaker, and Survivor,
and I’ve walked through some of life’s most challenging valleys; infidelity, divorce, caregiving, grief, and even a cancer diagnosis, simultaneously in a 4-year period, and all while holding on to my faith and discovering a strength I didn’t know I had. Today, I am not just a survivor, I am thriving. My story is one of resilience, transformation, and love—love for myself, love for God, and love for the community I’ve built to empower other women walking through their own journeys of healing and rediscovery.

In 2020, my life was turned upside down when I discovered that my husband of 30 years was having an affair—his second. The revelation left me heartbroken, humiliated, and questioning everything from my identity, my worth, and my life’s purpose. The idea of dissolving a 30-year marriage and starting over felt devastating. But the challenges didn’t stop there.

I leaned heavily on my faith in God, therapy, and community for healing, but the challenges didn’t stop there. While navigating the emotional toll, I was also grieving the loss of my parents after nearly a decade as their caregiver, building a business, and reeling from being fired from my corporate job. Just when I thought I could finally step away to heal—planning a two-year sabbatical to Costa Rica—I was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Over the next eight months, I endured surgery to remove four masses, followed by four rounds of chemotherapy and fifteen cycles of radiation. It was an intense, grueling journey, but it was also one of deep healing and revelation. The recovery room after surgery became a sacred space of clarity and forgiveness. When asked who I wanted to see first, I surprised myself by calling for my ex-husband. Despite our painful past, our brief exchange was filled with love and grace, bringing me a profound sense of liberation. That moment wasn’t about our history—it was about releasing bitterness and embracing the peace God had for me.

I am dedicated to helping women who have faced life’s challenges reclaim their lives, reignite their passions, and reconnect with their dreams so they can manifest the life they truly desire.

As the founder of Soul Sisters Society, I have created a supportive virtual community specifically for Black women over 40, providing a safe space for connection, healing, and growth. Many of us navigate adversity while bearing societal pressures and unresolved emotional burdens, hindering our ability to thrive. Launched in July 2024, Soul Sisters Society empowers Black women navigating significant challenges, including divorce, grief, and the journey toward self-love and well-being.

Through it all, I learned to forgive, rebuild, and rediscover myself. I’ve seen God work miracles in my life—healing my heart, transforming my pain into purpose, and creating a new story for my life: helping other women reclaim their lives, reignite their passions, and manifest the dreams they lost after life challenges.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The unraveling of my 30-year marriage was one of the most painful experiences of my life. The betrayal shook me to my core, forcing me to confront my identity, self-worth, and future in ways I never anticipated. At the same time, I was grieving the loss of both of my parents after nearly a decade as their caregiver, a role that had consumed so much of my energy and heart. Just as I was beginning to find my footing again—after building a business and recovering from being fired from my corporate job—I was diagnosed with breast cancer, completely shifting my reality once again.

There were moments when the weight of it all felt unbearable. But through every hardship, I leaned into faith, therapy, and the power of community to rebuild my life. I discovered a strength within me that I never knew existed, and I realized that my pain had a greater purpose. Each obstacle shaped the woman I am today, allowing me to step into my calling: helping other women reclaim their lives, reignite their passions, and walk boldly into their next chapter.

Today, I stand not just as a survivor but as someone who has truly thrived despite adversity. The road was far from easy, but I wouldn’t change a single part of my journey because it led me to where I am now—empowered, purposeful, and committed to uplifting others.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I empower women through my coaching program, speaking opportunities, and my community work, to reclaim their life, reignite their passions, especially when life feels overwhelming or when they’ve lost sight of who they are. What sets me apart is the authenticity of my experience. I don’t just teach from theory, I teach from lived wisdom. I’ve walked through the hard times and emerged with a purpose: to empower women.

Through Soul Sisters Society, I offer a safe space for members to connection, healing, and growth, through conversation with experts and professionals. What I’m most proud of is the profound impact it has on those served, helping women thrive again.

What are your plans for the future?
I’m excited for the next chapter, focused on expanding my impact and reaching more women in need of healing and empowerment. My goal is to grow Soul Sisters Society into a global movement, offering more resources, retreats, and live events to help women rediscover themselves and step into their purpose.

I’m also expanding my twelve-month coaching programs and working on my first book, sharing my journey of resilience, healing, and transformation. Additionally, I plan to grow my annual Breast Cancer Victory Walk, raising awareness and celebrating survivors.

Through speaking engagements, my podcast, and coaching, I look forward to helping more women break free from feeling stuck and lost, embrace self-love, and create the lives they truly desire. This next season is all about growth, purpose, and empowering others to thrive.
