Today we’d like to introduce you to Perishia Jones
Hi Perishia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started out as a young teacher, singing with a quartet group named Unity of Navasota, leading worship at my parent’s church Fresh Start Ministries Brazos Valley. After a 7 year battle with depression, I was able to dig myself from a horrible dark place, find God, go back to school to obtain 2 Master’s degrees, and write music. From those experiences, I am now a School Counselor and a solo artist under an independent label called WorkSonMusic. I released a Worship album on my birthday 12/5/24 called Embracing Me. This album has done very well and I have climbed 4 music charts in a short time including the Media Base Charts.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Absolutely not; I dealt with depression for several years.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a School Counselor at an elementary school by day, and a worship artist all of the rest of the time. 🙂
I am most proud of my ability to keep going despite being in a really dark place at one time. Today, I am a wife to one of the most influential musicians, Peigh Jones, mother to Saint Patrick Jones, a worship leader, and a traveling artist. I am proud of being able to wear many hats and still be able to be available for my wants and desires.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I play drums and I LOVE to cook, everyday!!!!
