Today we’d like to introduce you to Constance Smith
Hi Constance, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Constance Smith. I’m originally from Ohio but have lived in Houston for over 40 years and reside in Fulshear, TX. I am the wife of an amazingly wonderful man, and I am a mother to two beautiful young adults, Aloni & Ashton, as well as two fantastic bonus kids (Cana and Caleb) and a spoiled little diva fur baby named Heidi. Heidi is a Maltipoo and we love her to pieces. I have always had a passion for photography. I’ve always been the friend to show up at every event and take pictures and videos capturing special moments for people just for fun. After retiring from Corporate America, I always said I would pursue photography full-time and start my own business doing what I love. One day, I woke up, and God spoke to me and said, “What are you waiting for? Life is not promised….we don’t know if we will even be here ten years from now. So why not now? Do it now. Do it, afraid!” So, I took a leap of faith and launched the business that week. My husband bought me a new hi-tech camera and a few lenses, hired a CPA to handle my LLC paperwork, opened a business checking and online booking website, created a social media page, started branding myself, and advertised. Within a few weeks, I was booked almost every weekend for the rest of the year. Everything just fell into place.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
So far, it has been a smooth road. The biggest struggle I encountered was when I joined the photography ministry at my church. One of the requirements to join the ministry was that you could not shoot in AUTO mode; you could only shoot in MANUAL mode. I had no idea how to shoot in Manual mode, so I guess you could say I quickly got some on-the-job training. It forced me to step outside my comfort zone of having the security of shooting with my iPhone or shooting in auto mode, but actually having to take control of the camera itself and learn something new very quickly. It was a challenge but it was a great thing that it happened that way because it has made me a much better photographer.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory was going to see The Wizard of Oz on Broadway with my Mother. We wore matching outfits. The show was amazing. The colors were so vibrant. I loved it!
