Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Marquez
Hi Michelle, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It is never too late to start,” and “What is meant to find you will never pass you by” are two quotes that guide my life. Throughout my career, I have engaged in various creative endeavors that have brought me immense joy, including makeup artistry, photography, talent scouting, writing, blogging, and content creation. Initially, I believed I would never find a career that allowed my creativity to flourish—until I decided to return to university for higher education. I attended Houston Baptist University, where I graduated with a degree in Mass Media Communication and a minor in Writing.
Since then, I have worked in the fields of public relations, marketing, and social media, which have allowed me to pursue my passions. I am incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported my creative journey; I wouldn’t be where I am today without their encouragement. Remember, it is never too late to chase your dreams—make them happen!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The biggest obstacle a creative can face is the feeling that their work isn’t good enough. Self-doubt has been one of the most significant challenges I’ve encountered in this industry, and I still struggle with it. With the constant influx of new trends and innovations, it’s easy to get distracted and feel pressured to keep up with the latest and greatest, which can be overwhelming at times.
I believe the most important thing to do when creating—whether for yourself or a client—is to stay true to both the brand and yourself. While keeping up with trends can be beneficial, it’s equally important to emphasize what makes your work or brand unique.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I work as a marketing professional and content creator, while being a beauty and wellness enthusiast as a passionate hobby.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Finding a mentor is essential and inspiring when navigating life and career growth. Early in my career, I was fortunate to work with, and still continue to do so, wonderful and strong women who unknowingly guided me. They demonstrated that the path to success can be achieved through resilience, beauty, grace, and, most importantly, hard work.
