Hi Jennifer, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Hello! I’m Jennifer. I am a wife and mother, and I work full-time as a Veterinary Dermatology Technician while also growing my laser business. I began creating gifts with my vinyl cutting machine approximately ten years ago, producing items such as custom bulb ornaments, Easter gifts, and vinyl names and designs. I have always aspired to expand what I can offer. During my recovery from a back surgery, I started making earrings, which gained significant popularity. This helped me to acquire my first CO2 laser. With this new equipment, I was able to create laser-cut earrings, ornaments, baby name signs, custom paw print and handwriting signs, custom badge reels and more. I also expanded to add wholesale homecoming mum acrylics. Currently, about 75% of my products are personalized or customized. I now operate an industrial-size CO2 laser and have recently added a fiber laser, which enables me to offer customized jewelry in gold, silver, and stainless steel.
As a dedicated veterinary professional, it inspired me to create memorial ornaments and paw/nose print signs. I have spent years caring for animals and witnessing the bond between pets and their owners. I have celebrated joyous moments and stood by grieving families when their beloved companions crossed the rainbow bridge.
The loss of a pet was more than just losing an animal; it was saying goodbye to a cherished family member. I saw how much comfort it brought to families and even my coworkers to have a keepsake to remember their furry friends by.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Any small business will experience ups and downs. I am grateful for my loyal customers and for the opportunity to continuously grow and expand my offerings with new laser-cut and custom items.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
While working to grow my laser cut business, I am also employed full-time as a Veterinary Dermatology Technician. I have been in this role for 24 years, with approximately 20 of those years dedicated specifically to Dermatology. While I have a passion for working with animals, I have a strong desire to transition to running my business full-time in order to support my family.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My husband, son and in laws have been my most significant supporters and cheerleaders. My mother-in-law, Elizabeth, has played a crucial role in my ongoing growth and development. She has facilitated the wholesale homecoming mum acrylics aspect of my business.
