Hi Ashlynn, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
It all started with a passion for creativity and a strong desire to make a difference in the influencer marketing space. I began my career as a content creator, driven by a love for analytics and the idea of using data to enhance content. Over time, I became frustrated by the lack of fair compensation and recognition for Black and POC creators. I realized there was a need for change, not only in the way creators were treated but also in how brands connected with talent.

That frustration fueled my vision to create Dawson Marie—a boutique talent management agency that empowers creators with the resources and support they deserve. With over nine years of experience in marketing, including five years on the brand side, I was able to use my industry knowledge and relationships to build a bridge between brands and creators.

Starting Dawson Marie was a leap of faith. I spent months researching, networking, and refining my vision. The idea behind it was simple: to offer a more personalized, strategic, and creative approach to influencer marketing. We focus on collaboration, trust, and long-term partnerships, not just contracts.

In just a few months, Dawson Marie has gained traction and even brought in $30K for creators before our official launch. It’s been an incredible journey so far, and I’m excited about what’s to come. We’re just getting started, but I truly believe we’re on the path to shaking up the industry and making it a more inclusive and impactful space for creators.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I think that’s part of what makes the journey so rewarding! Starting Dawson Marie came with its fair share of challenges, especially since I was navigating an industry that doesn’t always offer clear guidance, particularly for boutique agencies like mine.

One of the biggest struggles was finding creators who were actively seeking management and guidance. It took a lot of effort to connect with the right people and build relationships. There’s a misconception in the industry that creators are just waiting for representation, but many are still figuring things out on their own, which made it hard to find those who were ready to partner up in a meaningful way.

Another challenge was establishing myself in a competitive field. The influencer marketing world is constantly evolving, and with so many agencies out there, it was tough to carve out a unique space. But what kept me motivated was knowing that Dawson Marie wasn’t just another agency—it’s a boutique agency with a heart and mission to genuinely empower creators and elevate their careers.

And let’s not forget the logistical side—getting all the paperwork in place, establishing the LLC, and handling all the legal and financial details was a lot to juggle on top of the creative side. But those tough moments were key to laying a solid foundation for the business. I’m proud of where we’ve come, and the struggles only fueled my determination to build something special.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in influencer marketing and talent management, but what sets me apart is my deep understanding of both creators and brands. I don’t just see it as signing talent; I see it as building long-term, authentic partnerships where both sides thrive. I’m passionate about connecting creators with brands in a way that feels genuine and impactful—focusing on creative collaboration, strategic guidance, and fair compensation.

At Dawson Marie, we offer a full-circle approach. We not only manage the influencer’s career but also provide deep industry knowledge, strategic guidance, and expert negotiation so that creators can focus on what they do best—creating. I’m known for my personalized, hands-on approach—what we do here isn’t one-size-fits-all. We believe every creator is unique, and our goal is to amplify that uniqueness, matching them with brands that truly align with their values and creative vision.

I’m most proud of the relationships we’ve built and the trust we’ve established with both creators and brands in such a short time. Our agency has already generated over $30K for creators before our official launch, which is a huge accomplishment and shows that we’re on the right path.

What really sets us apart is our boutique nature. While many agencies are larger and may treat creators as just another number, we focus on giving each creator the individualized attention they deserve. We’re not just an agency—we’re a partner that genuinely cares about their growth and success.
