Today we’d like to introduce you to Eboni Person
Hi EBONI, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, and in 2011, I moved to Miami to attend the University of Miami. Over the next 11 years, Miami became my second home—a place where I earned both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees and built many meaningful connections.
Before pursuing my master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy, I worked with children and youth in the nonprofit sector, which deepened my passion for supporting individuals and families. After completing my graduate studies, I began practicing therapy while also teaching as an elementary school teacher in South Florida.
Two and a half years ago, I took a leap of faith, sold my home, and drove to Houston, embracing a new chapter in my journey. Since then, Houston has become my new home, and I’ve continued to grow both personally and professionally. I recently became licensed as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate in Texas and joined the private practice Chill Counseling, where I’m excited to continue making a meaningful impact through therapy.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. Life changes and stressors, along with the broader challenges of the world—especially during the COVID-19 pandemic—made certain transitions more difficult. Moving to a new state in 2022 while the pandemic was still ongoing brought its own set of uncertainties, from building a new community to adjusting to a different environment both personally and professionally.
Despite these challenges, I’ve learned so much along the way. I’ve grown in resilience, adaptability, and self-awareness, and I’ve been fortunate to have the support of my family and friends. Since moving to Houston, I’ve also built strong connections and found a chosen family that has made this city feel like home.
As you know, we’re big fans of Chill Counseling. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I’m proud to be the newest member of the team at Chill Counseling, where I strive to create a safe and empowering space for my clients—one where healing and growth can truly flourish. As a therapist, I work with individuals, couples, and families who are breaking generational cycles, navigating life’s challenges, and learning healthier ways to love themselves and others.
I especially enjoy working with children and youth, LGBTQ+ clients, and BIPOC individuals, helping them feel seen, heard, and valued. My work often focuses on supporting those managing anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, and other forms of neurodivergence. I believe that therapy is not just about addressing struggles but also about uncovering strengths, fostering resilience, and building meaningful strategies for a more balanced and fulfilling life.
What sets my approach apart is my deep commitment to meeting clients where they are, honoring their unique experiences, and tailoring our work together to their specific needs. I’m currently accepting clients, and I welcome anyone seeking support to reach out. Healing is a journey, and I’m honored to walk alongside those ready to take that step.
