Today we’d like to introduce you to Unity Of Navasota
Hi Unity of Navasota, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Unity of Navasota is singing group that was started by middle school students on the back of their school bus in the winter of 2004. Over the last 20 years, Unity has recorded 4 albums, 1 EP and released several singles. Unity has sung in churches, fairs, festivals and concert halls all over the country. Prayer, reflection, forgiveness, humility and the grace of God are factors that contributed to where they are today.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road! There were seasons where our own ignorance and immaturity were barriers to our cohesiveness and success. There were also times where our personal schedules (particularly during our immediate post high school years) were barriers to our productivity. There have even been times where we were asked to jeopardize our integrity for certain opportunities. Of course we rejected those suggestions but it hurt not received the opportunities. As we began to receive opportunities to minister on stages outside of the church we had to overcome the barrier of “pressure to conform” to societal expectations and holdfast to the Biblical values that are required of us by God.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
The members of Unity have a diverse array of careers that range from teachers, coaches, artists, counselors, Child Protective Services administrator, music producer, insurance agent, HR/management, ministry and authors. We are Godly proud of our commitment to our careers, businesses and professional development! We believe that our success in our careers sets us apart from other artists who choose to focus solely upon their artistry.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
We would like for the readers to know that while we are artists we are also believers in the Lord Jesus Christ! Though we have not (and never will) reach perfection, we believe that it is a relationship with Christ that will sustain people in the world that we live in! We would like to encourage the readers to wake up each morning and compete ONLY with yesterday’s version of themselves! Make Change, Make Progress and Make an Impact! Lastly, we absolutely love our supporters!
