Meet Lucy Lenoir of Spring

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lucy Lenoir

Hi Lucy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I grew up in Willis, Texas. It always felt too small for my personality, and a little too conservative for my taste. I moved to Houston 3 weeks after I turned 18, and never went back! I had several friends that were tattooers, and slowly became obsessed with the community, the art, and the lifestyle. Before tattooing, I was a chef, and am also absolutely equally obsessed with food. I worked in fine dining and large scale catering for 5 years. After switching to tattooing, I loved the freedom, the creativity, and the relationships I was making with my clients. That connection to my community has kept me in the industry for 7 years now, and I enjoy every second of it! I have also toured the country as the vocalist in a metal band, and am now the vocalist for a pop band “Haunter” as well. I record in Los Angeles, and can’t wait to perform live! We will be releasing an EP this year, so keep an eye out for that!! I truly believe these songs can do so much for my career, let’s see how it goes! Hopefully I will be quoting that in a couple of years. Haha!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I have definitely had quite a tumultuous life. My upbringing was not exactly steady, or well off. My family moved quite a lot, I specifically remember counting 23 times in one school year one time. Was not a fantastic experience. I’ve dealt with poverty, several sexual assaults, rape, neglect, and multiple forms of abuse throughout my childhood and adolescence. Most people see me as a strictly positive and resilient person, and until now, they have never known why. I’d like to let people into my world, hopefully to inspire someone with my honesty and determination.

Unfortunately, I was very reserved growing up because of this compounded emotional trauma. I was left alone a lot of the time because of my inability to communicate with people. I lost my dad when I was fifteen as well. With all of that being said, in a weird way I am grateful for all of it. I have been using my creativity to express my frustration and heartbreak from that since fifteen, so over half my life now. I wouldn’t be the resilient person I am today without all of the experiences I’ve been through, even the bad ones. So I fully appreciate the experience of all of life, and use that deep understanding of emotions within myself to help others. I talk to my clients like they are family, so nobody ever has to feel ignored, alone, or anxious when visiting me in my studio. I’ve used all of this pain and confusion to create something really beautiful for people, and I am so happy to be sort of a unique therapy session for others.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a tattooer, specializing in all styles. I take great pride in being able to execute all styles well! It is so much fun being able to do realism one day, and then a beautiful fine line piece the next day. Being able to change between styles keeps me from getting bored! Every day is always different, and I love that. I also love that I can give my clients multiple styles, so I can keep strengthening the relationship, no matter what they need!

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was surprisingly quiet as a kid, but came out of my shell a little bit more when I started singing in bands. My first taste of being a musician was at 14 in a tiny back bedroom with my friends, I randomly started singing, and I found my voice. After that, I also found my confidence, and self love. After that I have always been extremely outgoing, wild, understanding, caring, and absolutely unhinged by nature. I love having a good time and laughing, making my friends smile, and not taking life too seriously.
