Rising Stars: Meet Christopher Harvey of Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Harvey

Hi Christopher, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Well! It all started about 18 years ago when I was living in Atlanta GA. I was a truck driver and had been driving for about 3 years and I wanted to do something different. I have always loved music, and I got an opportunity to work with the Sound Ministry at my local church. It was a challenge at first but after studying and taking a few classes, it became more of a love and less of a challenge. I moved back to Texas in April of 2014 and worked the sound for another local church while I still driving big trucks. I also played around with deejaying but never took it serious until about 6 years ago and my wife pushed me to really take it seriously. We both jumped out on faith and started H and H Audio, which is a company that offers Deejays and Sound Engineering for all types of events. It’s the best thing that we’ve done and wish we would have done it sooner. I say we because without my wife I wouldn’t be where I am. When I say I can’t, she says yes you can.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road hasn’t been too rough, but a little bumpy. The field of deejaying is saturated in Texas, so I had to find a way to set myself apart from all other deejays. The main thing that I have found to be hard is not being undercut by pricing of others in this field.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a deejay and audio sound engineer. I am most proud of knowing that H and H Audio is mine and no one can take it from me, and my wife and I built it from ground up. One thing that sets me about from other deejays would be my engineering background. It’s more than the music to me; I am always looking for the perfect sound.

What matters most to you? Why?
Owning my own business and not having to answer to anyone. It feels good being able to make my own decisions and if I make a bad decision, it only affects me and no one else.
