Conversations with Elsie Lindsay

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elsie Lindsay

Hi Elsie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Growing up, my mom was a superhero! She raised seven kids all on her own. Life took a turn when I was seven. My stepfather entered the picture. He was more than just a father figure; he was an entrepreneur. He enrolled all of us in the daycare he owned close to our home, and he had a knack for real estate with rental properties scattered around the Houston area.

He believed in keeping us busy, and real estate was his tool. My brothers became pros at lawn care, while my sisters and I accompanied him on his rent-collection rounds Houston. . Being curious, I asked why was he picking up checks from so many people. He stated ‘’ I’m a landlord,” he explained, and casually mentioned selling real estate. I didn’t ask for an explanation. I learned by watching. Him. We visited million-dollar homes in sugar land where measure walls , windows and doors. His world fascinated me, and I decided then that one day, I would become a Realtor.

However, rumors about the difficult licensing exam held me back. Instead, I ventured into the medical field, raising my two daughters alone and supporting them through every milestone. But life threw me another loop. I was laid off the same year my second daughter graduated high school. That moment became a turning point. It was time to chase my dream, and that was being a realtor. I took the exam, passed, and now I’m a thriving Realtor. I wouldn’t trade this journey for anything.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Overcoming challenges is a story worth sharing, and mine in the realm of real estate is no different. Imagine taking the licensing test several times, only to finally pass the exam after countless attempts. I immersed myself in the crucial knowledge of real estate, but without the immediate support of a team post-school. I was driven by sheer hunger and ambition, having emerged from humble beginnings. Witnessing my mother’s long-standing struggles, and navigating life as a single mom raising my daughters with limited resources, shaped my journey. I approached real estate with the same resilience I honed in my childhood. I observed, listened, and absorbed everything I could. Along the way, I stumbled and made mistakes, but I maintained an unwavering commitment to never give up. There were days my eyes filled with tears, yet I was determined and never gave up.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a dedicated realtor and investor, I specialize in guiding families to discover their dream homes. What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories was watching and learning from my stepdad. Whether it was observing him or helping him with projects around the house, picking up life lessons from his stories, or simply enjoying moments. Each experience was a valuable opportunity to learn and grow. His guidance and support have had a lasting impact on me, shaping who I am today. These cherished memories remind me of the importance of family and the lessons we pass down through generations.
