Daily Inspiration: Meet Andy Camp

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andy Camp

Andy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always loved interior design and began slowly transforming my mom’s home when I lived with her. I started an instagram page in 2019 to share the updates called lacasitabyandy. When my husband, Marshall, and I bought our first home in 2021, my passion for interiors took off. When we bought our home, we were also planning a wedding so budget was tight- we leaned on DIYs and learned how to do much of the work ourselves to avoid hiring out. This changed the game for us as Marshall started building almost all of our projects himself. There really is nothing like having autonomy to dream up a space and make it come to life with mistakes, start-overs, repainting after the color didn’t work out, etc. I still document our projects on my instagram and have loved seeing our vision for our home come to life! Making our space our own is something we do outside of our full time jobs and dream of the day we get to do this full time, but are so grateful for where we are now.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It can feel discouraging to open up an app and see someone’s home being renovated in a two month span while it’s taken us three years to get to where we are with our home now, but am always reminded that we are doing what we can with what we have and that often times what we see on social media isn’t the reality for a majority of people. As difficult as it is to be patient in doing projects ourselves over time, we have truly enjoyed the process and have gotten to appreciate the fruit of our labor.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
While I enjoy my corporate job, it doesn’t feed my passion for design and envisioning projects. I am grateful that my job has helped provide for my family and that when I close my computer after work, I can tap into what I am creatively passionate about- transforming spaces. Right now, we are mainly focusing on renovating our home ourselves. While we could hire out projects now, the joy that has come with doing it ourselves and doing it as a team with my husband has been incredible. And we love to save money doing it ourselves, of course! I’m proud of how we both dream up spaces and adjust for it to ultimately reflect both of us. We truly are the best team together.

I don’t have a large following but still love sharing our space and projects and that has brought sweet gifts along the way like Homeworthy recently coming over to cover our home for one of their episodes. If I can encourage anyone- keep sharing your passions even when you feel like it’s silly or it doesn’t matter. The right people will support and notice!

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Follow along on our journey to transform our home on Instagram (@lacasitabyandy) or on Tiktok (@andygonzalezcamp). My tiktok is a little bit of everything, but still incorporate home projects. If you’d like to collaborate, email me at andreagonzalezcamp@gmail.com.

I love making new friends and have been so blessed by the amazing people I’ve met on social media!
