Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Erger
Hi Erin, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I first started making earrings in 2017 as a hobby and a way to give myself a break from studying for bar exams after I graduated from law school. I’ve always loved being crafty and trying to make things so I gave earring making a try. However, my earrings and style have evolved over the years. In the beginning I made a suede tassel earring and now I have the acrylic earrings and some other styles, It’s a creative outlet for me to make accessories and nothing bring me more joy than seeing other people pairing the earrings with their outfits.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
For the most part, yes. I have learned so much having a small business. My life has also changed a lot from the inception of business to now. I was newly married when I first started making earring and now my husband and I and have 3 kids and 2 dogs, I’ve gone from the corporate world to staying home with our kids. One thing about having your own business, it allows for flexibility and you can put as much or little time into it as you would like. Some years I have spent much more time doing things and other years, when some of my kids were babies, I spent less time, but I always come back to the urge of wanting to make earrings.
The main struggle I’ve had throughout the years is having my earrings seen by the right audience, I sell them on instagram and in some boutiques, which having them in boutiques gives me a larger platform for my product to be seen. Social media has been a great tool for people to find my earrings too and I’m always looking for ways to have my earrings stand out from other accessories out there. I’ve been fortunate that the earrings always sell well, but finding a larger audience is what I’m always striving for and how to market them.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Charming Magnolia?
Charming magnolia started as way for me to have more of my favorite accessory, earrings. My earrings are fun and unique and they can be dressed up or down. I always say, earrings are always in season. And it’s true! You can wear them any time of year and with any outfit. You’ll hear the saying every time someone makes a purchase from a small business, someone does a happy dance, that would be me! It’s so gratifying when others buy your product as a small business. My earrings are constantly changing and I say buy it when you see it because I may not have it again. I purchase my supplies from different vendors and suppliers and like to change up the style, so you never know what I might have!
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love how living in such a large suburb of a city allows for many opportunities for my earrings to be featured at markets, festivals, and boutiques. There is always something going on and it’s always enjoyable meeting new people.
