Hi Frajai, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Frajai Grays, 27, but I prefer to go by my Artist name, “Jai Grizza”, I’m a husband & father. I’m originally from Bryan/College Station, Texas. I started officially writing music when I was 9 years old & have been performing on stage since the age of 13, I grew up in a very music oriented family, so my love for music just came naturally since the day I was born. I’ve always been inspired by legendary artists, such as 2Pac, Z-Ro, Lil Wayne, UGK, etc, just to name a few. I decided to go in business for himself in 2018 by becoming the CEO of my own independent label, Struggles End Entertainment, LLC. By the end of 2018, I partnered with Bryan/College Station Entrepreneur, Billy Modique Jr (Bill Money), & became the C.O.O. Of Texas-Based artist promotion platform, “Souf Central Marketing & Media”. I moved to Houston with my family in 2023 in search of better business & working opportunities.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all, but that’s what makes it a true journey, if it comes easy, can you actually say that you truly worked hard for what you want in life? I’ve gone through financial hardships in the past, family hardships, gaining friends, losing friends, but one thing I can say is, I never lost sight of the bigger picture for my family & I.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As previously stated, I am the CEO of my independent record label, Struggles End Entertainment, & C.O.O. Of Texas-Based artist promotion platform, “Souf Central Marketing & Media”. As of late, I’ve added Food connoisseur to that list, as I do my own food review show called “Grubbin’ Wit’ Grizza” & I am a host of the “4oodie Tour” with Above It All Network’s CEO, CainVsTheWorld. I’ve also recently added Jeweler to my resume as well, doing partnerships with known Houston luxury Jewelry connoisseur, “Iced By Rokk”. If I do say so myself, I’m extremely proud of myself mainly because of where I come from, a small town to a bigger city, chasing bigger opportunities & better life for my family. What separates myself & my music from everyone else is the fact that I make TIMELESS MUSIC, not just this “popcorn” music that tends to go around these days, no matter how old the song gets, it will always hit the same & be a classic. When I make a song, I take my time & FEEL the instrumental that’s given to me, I have to feel every drum, snare, etc, I truly go off of my feelings, if it doesn’t resonate, I either put that specific song in the vault for a while or just don’t bother with it at all, I always say, “I can’t make a happy song, if I’m not happy, or a sad song if I’m not sad”, if it’s not a genuine feeling, I can’t put it on wax. I’d like to think my heart & my hustle is what makes me, ME.
