Rising Stars: Meet Amy Lindemann of The Woodlands

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Lindemann.

Hi Amy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always had a passion for photography. Growing up, I remember my dad constantly with a camera in hand, capturing beautiful moments of my brothers and me. His ability to freeze time in a picture always fascinated me. When I decided to explore photography as a hobby and potential side hustle, my boyfriend (now husband) and my parents surprised me with a camera for my birthday—an incredibly thoughtful gesture that pushed me to take it more seriously.

I officially launched my photography business in 2019, and despite the challenges of the pandemic in 2020-2021, my business continued to grow. During that time, I focused primarily on elopements and family sessions, which allowed me to gain valuable experience in a less stressful environment compared to full wedding days. This experience was invaluable and helped me hone my skills.

After becoming a mom to both of my daughters, I’ve come to truly appreciate photography as a creative outlet. It’s been incredibly rewarding to see how supportive my clients have been throughout my journey into motherhood and balancing life as both a business owner and a mom. I feel so blessed to have a career that not only allows me to spend quality time with my family but also fulfills me in ways I never imagined.

Since the very beginning, I’ve been drawn to weddings and lifestyle sessions. There’s something so special about capturing love in all its forms, whether it’s an intimate elopement, a joyful wedding, or a simple, beautiful moment between loved ones. I truly enjoy documenting these memories and feel incredibly blessed to be able to do so. It’s been so rewarding to see clients turn into friends and be able to document each life milestone.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been without its challenges. In 2021, I became a mom to my daughter Ellie, and then again in 2023 to my daughter Hallie. Balancing life as a wife, mom, and business owner is no easy feat. I’ve had to learn to give myself a lot of grace and establish strong work-life boundaries to make sure I’m dedicating enough quality time to my family while also staying on top of my business responsibilities. It’s been a constant juggling act, but one I’m incredibly grateful for.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in weddings and lifestyle sessions, and I often describe my work as warm, intimate, and full of storytelling moments. I take great pride in capturing life’s most cherished milestones, whether it’s a wedding, a newborn’s first moments, a graduation, or simply a beautiful “just because” session. My ultimate goal is to make my clients feel comfortable and at ease, so they trust me to document all of their special moments for years to come.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Networking is so important. I’ve found it to be so helpful to ask for advice when needed and to really just put myself out there. Photography is typically a solo job so you really have to go out of your way to make friends with people that are doing the same thing. Find Facebook groups, do styled shoots or ask someone you admire for a mentorship session.
