Today we’d like to introduce you to Fatima Alikhan.
Hi Fatima, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey began in the skies—quite literally. It started with a love for travel and connecting with people. I spent eight years working as a commercial flight attendant, and while I loved the fast-paced lifestyle, I always knew I wanted to take things a step further. That led me into private aviation, where I spent another six years working closely with high-end clients and learning what it really takes to deliver a luxury experience in the air.
Over time, I started to notice a gap in the industry—there were plenty of charter companies, but few that truly focused on the finer details that make private flying feel exceptional. That’s when I decided to create Flight Selective in 2020. I wanted to build a brand that offers more than just private jet charters. We also provide luxury travel products and training guides for flight attendants who want to level up their service and move into the private sector. Everything I offer through Flight Selective is based on real experience, high standards, and a genuine passion for creating unforgettable travel moments.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Although it’s had its ups and downs, literally— every challenge helped shape the business into what it is today. Starting Flight Selective in 2020 came with its own set of obstacles, especially launching a travel-related brand during a global pandemic. There was a lot of uncertainty in the aviation industry at the time, so I had to be strategic, patient, and resourceful from day one.
Another big challenge was building trust in a competitive market. Private aviation clients expect perfection, so I had to make sure every part of my service—from the charters to the training guides—reflected the highest standards. It took time to grow my network and prove that Flight Selective could deliver something truly elevated. But those early struggles pushed me to be more creative, and now I look back at them as necessary steps in building something lasting.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
At my core, I’m someone who’s passionate about service, travel, and creating unforgettable experiences for people. Working as a flight attendant for over a decade—both in commercial and private aviation—taught me how powerful those small, thoughtful details can be. I became known for my ability to anticipate needs, stay calm under pressure, and deliver five-star service no matter the situation.
That mindset is something I carry with me in everything I do. I specialize in high-level customer service, luxury hospitality, and flight safety—and I’ve built a strong network in aviation because people know I bring experience and excellence to the table.
What I’m most proud of is taking the leap to start my own business, Flight Selective, and building it from the ground up.
I’ve been dedicated to the world of travel and aviation is my crafting tool. I hope to share my love for travel with everyone so they can experience a deeper connection with the world.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I believe taking risks is necessary if you want to grow—both personally and professionally. For me, one of the biggest risks was stepping away from a steady career as a flight attendant to launch my own business. I was walking away from stability to pursue something I believed in, without knowing exactly how it would unfold.
Starting Flight Selective during a global pandemic was a major leap of faith. The travel industry was uncertain, and I had to invest my time, energy, and resources into something that didn’t have guaranteed results. But I’ve learned that the biggest rewards often come from the boldest moves. That risk forced me to get creative, be resourceful, and fully commit to my vision—and because of that, I’ve built something I’m truly proud of.
I still take calculated risks today—whether it’s expanding into new services or building relationships in new markets. If the risk aligns with your passion and your purpose, it’s usually worth it.
