Inspiring Conversations with Maryanna Arredondo of Elite bnb Properties LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maryanna Arredondo.

Hi Maryanna , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been in the medical field for about 27 years. I felt like I needed to do more than sit behind a desk, went to school for Surgical Technician and finished in 2008.Mom of 3 boys I needed something more reliable and depending for me and my family. I’ve worked in the OR assisting surgeons and seeing things I never thought I’d see or be doing. So, then I embarked on a new journey. Real Estate. It’s become my new passion. I’ve been doing it now for 8 years and part time. I’m all about helping people. Take care of the sick in hopes they leave the hospital in better shape. Now helping people find there forever home is what I love doing. Knowing I was a part of the journey makes me feel good at handing over the keys to clients and their future investments. It’s a great feeling.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road, working in a hospital has its good and bad, you have great outcomes and not so great. you work dayshift, nights weekends and holidays and not to mention taking call. Missing your kid’s baseball game or practice. Missing a family gathering or a holiday. It’s tough. With real estate, it’s not easy either. You get through inspections and then days before closing everything falls through the cracks and the deal is dead. Its financial setbacks or the loan and then you have to tell your clients that they no longer qualify, or they need more money and you have to break the news. It’s heartbreaking all the way around.

As you know, we’re big fans of Elite bnb Properties LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
This is an Airbnb business. I’ve always wanted to be my own boss, and this was a way that I thought would do it for me. Being in Real Estate I didn’t think I could lose at it. You see people doing it all over the world and thought why not. Got the business name, website business phone number. I was able to get an Airbnb through a past client that I worked with. We talked about it, and he was onboard. So subleased his 3-bedroom 2 bath townhome. I furnished it, provided everything and anything I could think of. I went live on Airbnb with it and less then 2 weeks later I got my first guest then second and third it was booked every weekend, and I was busy turning over the unit washing sheets and cleaning, putting in the work by myself and sometimes with the help of a friend, putting in the sweat and tears, charging my credit cards using all my money to get this going and then the holidays came and went and no more bookings, I was like what is going on? Then I changed it up and did short term rental with longer stays so that it would pay out more. Buth the credit card bills started piling up and the wear and tear on my car the cleaning and the laundry just wasn’t adding up. I was overwhelmed and I wanted another unit, but I couldn’t keep up and then the owner wanted to sell. I cleared out the unit and we sold. I’m still recovering from it all You learn from your mistakes or wonder what I can do to make it better. So, I decided to just focus on Real Estate. And maybe revisit this process down the road in the future. I’m just focusing on being a buyer and a seller’s agent.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Definitely always wanted to be my own boss and have my own business and not work in the corporate world or punch a time clock. I love volunteering and helping in the community and as a Latina born and raised in Texas I just wanted to prove that anyone can make it no matter your race your color. If you work for it Anything is Possible.
