Hi Favour, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Thank you so much for the opportunity to share my story with your beautiful audience today. I started my business with the simple thought of finding a way to speak with the world and have conversations about problems that need to be solved. This started off by teaching myself how to play the drums at the age of six for my parent’s church because we couldn’t afford to pay a drummer. I bootstrapped and used my left-handed mindset and faith from God to start learning how to coordinate and enhance dynamics for memorable experiences.
This spilled into business when I started to upgrade from selling compact discs and floppy disks to selling websites for e-commerce and service-based companies. This happened when I was studying my Entertainment Business Masters degree program in Full Sail University located in Orlando, FL. In my program, I had to create a business idea and this consisted of website building which I hired out but never got the website which made me to disrupt my original business idea. This propelled me to learning how to build websites and apply search engine optimization using podcasting and Pinterest for evergreen visibility and topical authority.
The rest is history now and my podcast We Don’t PLAY is ranked Top 2.5% global ranking streaming across 145 countries with over 500 episodes that are binge-worthy within 10 seasons of interviews and thought-leading conversations. We are about to kick off our 11th season starting this May.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
If this road was smooth, I wouldn’t have learned all the lessons and curves I had to carve out of pressure and competition. One of the major struggles I had in the beginning was finding my stage where people could hear me and see me as an authority and expert in my niche so I can help them when they need support or services.
I’m grateful for negative films (I used to be a photographer – first paying job was a modeling photo editor) because they make great pictures when in the dark.
