Check Out Sahar Marand’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sahar Marand.

Hi Sahar, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Honestly, my story feels like a mix of taking the safe path and constantly fighting the urge to break free and create something of my own. I’ve spent years working in talent acquisition as a recruiter — climbing the ladder, learning the ins and outs of corporate life, and doing what I thought I was supposed to do. But deep down, I always knew there was more I wanted to explore — stories I wanted to tell, people I wanted to reach, and impact I wanted to make outside of the typical 9-to-5.

A huge part of my journey has been overcoming the fear of being too much — especially as someone who’s always been labeled the “loud one” or the “fat friend” but struggled silently with self-worth, body image, and learning how to truly love myself.

Over time, I realized my experiences — the highs, the heartbreaks, the self-discovery — weren’t just my own. So many people are walking around carrying the same weight, just waiting for someone to say it out loud first. That’s what pushed me to start sharing my life on TikTok and Instagram — not because I have it all figured out, but because I know what it feels like to just want someone to relate to. If my story helps even one person feel less alone, it’s worth it.

I’m still figuring it all out, but if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that there’s power in showing up as yourself — unapologetically. The right people will get it, and honestly, that’s all that matters. That’s the story I’m living every day.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced has been navigating body image struggles and depression — things I carried quietly for a long time. I’ve never felt the need to shrink myself to be accepted, but that didn’t mean the world didn’t try to make me feel less than. Prioritizing my mental health has been a game changer. I’ve learned that healing isn’t linear, but giving myself grace and choosing to show up — even on the hard days — has made all the difference.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’ve spent the last few years building my career in talent acquisition and recruiting, and honestly, I love what I do. There’s something really rewarding about connecting people to opportunities that can change their lives. Whether it’s helping someone land their dream job or partnering with companies to find the right fit, I’ve learned how powerful it is to genuinely understand people — what drives them, what scares them, and what lights them up.

But outside of the 9-to-5, I’m also passionate about creating content that connects with people in a different way. Sharing my own experiences — the good, the bad, and everything in between — has allowed me to build a little corner of the internet where people feel seen and less alone. I think that’s the goal with any work we do, right? To make an impact, no matter how big or small.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Likes:
I love deep conversations, a good iced coffee, and people who are unapologetically themselves. I’m a sucker for reality TV, random Target runs, and TikToks that make me laugh way too hard. And honestly, there’s nothing better than trying new restaurants or grabbing dinner with good company.

Dislikes:
I can’t stand people who are fake or think they’re better than everyone else. I also hate small talk — if we’re not talking about something real or laughing until we cry, what’s the point?
