Hidden Gems: Meet Tyvarion Malone of Tyed Together Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyvarion Malone.

Hi Tyvarion, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Tyed Together Events was born out of a deep love for creating meaningful, memorable moments. Before officially launching, I had already been planning and executing events that brought people together—birthdays, graduations, and community gatherings that inspired connection and joy. I eventually named that early chapter Before the Bow, because even though the business didn’t exist yet, the heart behind it was already beating.

My true love for planning events actually took root during my time in education. With over 10 years of experience—five as a teacher and seven as an Assistant Principal—I found myself consistently drawn to planning school events, student celebrations, staff recognitions, and community engagement initiatives. Those experiences showed me the power of intentional gatherings and the joy that comes from bringing people together in creative, purposeful ways. Event planning became my outlet, my passion, and eventually, my next chapter.

That realization led to the official launch of Tyed Together Events, a company rooted in intentionality, creativity, and community. I chose to focus on celebrations that often go overlooked—like milestone birthdays, graduations, and local events—because those are the moments that build culture, uplift people, and deserve thoughtful attention. We don’t plan weddings, and that’s intentional; instead, we specialize in experiences that feel personal, purposeful, and full of joy.

Our debut event, Can We Talk? A Women’s History Celebration, set the tone for what we’re about—centering stories, honoring people, and bringing communities together in meaningful ways. As the business has grown, I’ve been intentional about investing in assets that elevate our event experiences. One of those is The Tyed Lens, our signature 360 Booth Experience, which adds a dynamic and interactive element that guests love. It’s become one of our most popular offerings and represents the type of innovation we strive to bring to every event.

Tyed Together Events is more than just a business—it’s the result of years of passion, purpose, and planning, and I’m excited to continue growing and creating events that leave lasting impressions where “Every Detail is Tyed to Perfection!”

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road definitely hasn’t been completely smooth—but I think that’s true for most meaningful work. Launching Tyed Together Events while transitioning from a full-time career in education was both exciting and challenging. I went from a structured environment where I knew my role inside and out, to building something brand new from the ground up. That meant learning the ins and outs of running a business, building systems, finding the right tools, and trusting myself in a whole new way.

One of the biggest turning points in my journey was moving into the private sector as a Business Support Manager in May 2024. That experience gave me firsthand exposure to the operational side of business—the processes, strategies, and structures that help an organization thrive. It was a real-world crash course in how businesses function behind the scenes, and it gave me a stronger foundation to build Tyed Together Events on.

At the same time, I was also earning my Master’s in Business Administration with a focus in Human Resources, which I completed in December 2024. That program deepened my understanding of leadership, people management, and business strategy. Between the practical experience and academic knowledge, I was able to see the full picture of what it takes to not just start a business—but to run one well.

Still, even with those tools, one of the biggest challenges was giving myself permission to start messy—to not have everything figured out but to move forward anyway. There were times when I questioned if I was doing enough or doing it “right,” especially as a perfectionist coming from a leadership role in schools. But I had to remind myself that growth requires grace, and that progress matters more than perfection.

There’s also the very real challenge of managing time and energy. As a business owner, you wear every hat in the beginning—planner, marketer, bookkeeper, creative director—you name it. Learning how to balance that without burning out has been a work in progress, but it’s taught me how to prioritize, ask for help, and set boundaries in a way I never had to before.

Still, every challenge has helped shape the foundation of Tyed Together Events. The road hasn’t been smooth, but it’s been worth it—and it’s made me even more committed to creating a business that reflects not only my passion, but my growth.

As you know, we’re big fans of Tyed Together Events. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Tyed Together Events is a Houston-based event planning company that specializes in milestone celebrations, corporate gatherings, and community-centered events. We offer Full Planning Service, Day-of Coordination, and Vendor Sourcing. We intentionally focus on moments that are often overlooked—like milestone birthdays, graduations, brand activations, and appreciation events—because we believe those experiences deserve just as much care and creativity as any major occasion.

What sets Tyed Together Events apart is our commitment to thoughtful execution, personalized experiences, and the ability to navigate and meet the needs of a wide range of clients. With over a decade of experience in education—as both a teacher and Assistant Principal—I’ve worked with students, families, staff, and district leaders. That background taught me how to build relationships, communicate across different perspectives, and bring people together around a common goal. It’s a skill set that translates seamlessly into event planning, where dealing with multiple vendors, clients, and guests is part of the job.

We’re also known for incorporating fresh, interactive elements like The Tyed Lens, our signature 360 Booth Experience, which adds a dynamic and memorable touch to any event.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud that Tyed Together Events reflects authenticity and purpose. We’re not just in the business of putting on events—we’re here to help people celebrate well, build community, and create lasting impact through every detail.

What are your plans for the future?
I’m incredibly excited about what’s ahead for Tyed Together Events. Right now, we’re focused on deepening our presence in the Houston area by continuing to build meaningful partnerships and curate experiences that align with our values—intentionality, creativity, and community.

Looking ahead, a big focus for us is moving more into corporate and community spaces. For example, I’m working with a client who is hosting a community event on June 28 called Compositions, which will feature 70s and 80s music as part of her brand launch. Events like this are exactly the kind of people-centered, vibrant experiences we want to create more of—bringing energy, connection, and authenticity to every gathering. You can find out more about Compositions by following us on Instagram or checking the event listing on Eventbrite.

As we grow, I also want to develop curated event packages that make it even easier for clients to celebrate life’s special moments with style and ease, while expanding our footprint in both corporate and community sectors.

On a personal level, I’m continuing to invest in my growth as a business owner and creative leader. As Tyed Together Events evolves, I want to ensure that we’re not only growing in size, but also in substance—staying rooted in the quality and care that have defined us from the start.

Big picture, I see Tyed Together Events becoming a trusted name in the event planning space—not because we do everything, but because we do what we do exceptionally well.
