Conversations with Sentilion

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sentilion.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Sentilion was formed in 2014 by a group of friends in Highschool. They played together for about 2 years before going their separate ways early on in college. Fast forward to November of 2023, when founding members/best friends Irving Daniel Tabares (Danny Tabs) and Gabriel “GrayBlue” Sanchez decided to get back together and reform Sentilion into what it was meant to be. They eventually released their first single “Rebirth” on Mother’s day of 2024. After the release, both Danny Tabs and GrayBlue reached out to old band members from previous bands they’ve been in to join Sentilion and make it what it is today.

The first new member to join was GrayBlue’s old band member and close friend Luis “Luiggi” Altamirano. Next to join was Danny Tab’s old band member Richard “Rie” Martinez Jr. With these new members, Sentilion was now complete, with Luiggi on Lead Vocals/Rhythm Guitar, Danny Tabs on Lead Guitar/Backing Vocals, GrayBlue on Bass/Backing Vocals, and Rie on Drums/Backing Vocals.

With these added members, Sentilion has been able to pull from each individuals personal taste and style to shape what their sound is today. Sentilion pulls inspiration from bands such as Basement, Nirvana, Green Day, Metallica, and Avenged Sevenfold. These inspirations allow Sentilion to blend everyone’s taste to create that unique Sentilion sound that everyone loves.

They have many projects lined up, ready to be released and look forward to sharing their work with anyone and everyone.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
After their first release and with the addition of members, Sentilion faced one major challenge- recording/releasing new music.

Their second release “Masquerade” was one of the biggest recording challenges the band has faced. Going from 2 members to 4 added a new dynamic that the band had to get use to. There were many debates and disagreement on how the single should be recorded and learning how to use what was available to them in order to achieve a sound that everyone could agree with.

The band needed to learn how to record drums in a live setting since the first single “Rebirth” was recorded using the drum program “EZ Drummer”. This was especially difficult as the band had to use whatever equipment was available at the time that could support the setup necessary to record drums.

Each other member had to learn to write and record parts that serviced the song and not just wanted they wanted to play. This caused many complications in the final product as no one truly complimented each other, given the fact that the band was still trying to find their sound.

“Masquerade” was the song that pushed the band to their limits as this was their first song that was written and produced as a full band. Regardless though, Sentilion still released the song with the intention of learning from it and promising to never rush a project ever again.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Sentilion is a band based in Houston, Texas with the sole goal to spread their music nation wide (maybe even globally) and be able to influence and inspire others the same way each band member was inspired by their favorite bands.

Sentilion is most proud of the connections they have made throughout the local scene even though they are still extremely brand new. They look forward to growing these bonds by playing along side their favorite bands in the scene and possibly even collaborate with them as time goes on. They’ve even had the privilege to be plugged into the podcast network here in Houston allowing them to create new connections with other artists they otherwise wouldn’t have been able to.

What sets Sentilion apart is their ability to take from their personal lives and create songs that reflect those experiences but also that can connect with a wide audience. Story wise, the adversities each member has faced, is reflected within the lyrics of their songs. Musically, these stories are then enforced by each members playing style mixing Indie-style riffs with Metal . The addition of harmonies in the chorus, dual guitar melodies, and screaming vocals allows Sentilion to tell their story in a way that everyone can enjoy, no matter what they listen to.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Sentilion has utilized many different podcast that have allowed them to gain insight on what popular artists are doing to navigate the music industry. This allows Sentilion to learn what and how others are thinking/doing, in order to progress themselves in the music scene. These podcast include Hardlore, The Needle Drop, and Nik Nocturnal.
