Today we’d like to introduce you to Kafayat Ahmed, Ana Moreno, and Aisha Koroma.
Intellectual Properties is a Houston based, women owned consulting firm focusing on empowering the city’s small business entrepreneurs to build their ideas into fully functioning companies. Established by a group of young professionals with diverse backgrounds from psychology to accounting. The mission of the company is to support local commerce, empower the community by helping individuals turn their passions into profitable businesses.
Kafayat Ahmed and Aisha Koroma met in freshman year of high school. They instantly became friends and years later shared their vision to turn their passions into businesses. Kafayat and Aisha at that point formed a company that incorporated their business ideas. While developing the concepts of Intellectual Properties Ana joined the team. Aisha’s knowledge in nonprofit development and Masters in Psychotherapy brings a holistic perspective to business development. Kafayat’s Bachelor’s in Accounting and Finance and over a decade’s work experience in the field provides the analytical application to corporate governance. Lastly, Ana Moreno’s experience in marketing and operations consulting paired with a Master’s in Business Administration adds a consumer-centric approach to their services.
Today, Intellectual Properties has successfully aided in the development of several small businesses utilizing their holistic approach.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Like with all startups, we came across quite a few challenges. One of our greatest trials was marketing ourselves enough to attract customers. We needed to identify our target audience and reach them through the proper mediums. Another obstacle was narrowing our business’ scope. In addition, we also struggled with balancing our work and school schedules while trying to scale the organization.

Our focus is empowering the city’s small business entrepreneurs to build their ideas into fully functioning companies. We want to support local commerce and empower the community by helping individuals turn their passions into profitable businesses. We work with entrepreneurs to develop their concept, structure their business, and realize profits.
Our differentiator is flexibility, accessibility and perspective. The goal is to target individuals who are inexperienced as well as established business owners and interpret difficult business concepts in a clear and concise manner.
