Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Melita — a proud Haitian woman with a story rooted in pain, passion, and purpose. My journey started from personal frustration and a deep desire for relief. I suffered from BV (bacterial vaginosis) my entire pregnancy, and all the medications my doctor prescribed only made it worse. I felt uncomfortable, discouraged, and overlooked.
Nothing on the shelves brought lasting relief everything was too harsh. That experience pushed me to start researching natural alternatives and learning how to create gentle, effective solutions for myself.
I began experimenting with small batches of soap right in my mother’s kitchen. It was messy, exhausting, and full of trial and error but it became my therapy.
What made the journey even more meaningful was the constant support of my husband. He believed in my vision before I did, and he’s been by my side every step of the way.
That’s how Adore Her Skyn was born — out of a need for real solutions, crafted with care. Today, I’m proud to offer a handcrafted line of natural soaps and feminine care essentials designed to help women feel confident, clean, and cared for. Every product is made with clean, plant-based ingredients and a whole lot of love.
I created this line not just for myself, but for every woman who’s ever felt uncomfortable, or unsure about her body. At Adore Her Skyn, we stand for transparency, clean ingredients, and a message that reminds every woman to adore herself — inside and out.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There were definitely quite a few obstacles along the way. One of the biggest was time trying to balance being a new mom, showing up full-time at my 9-5, and still pouring energy into building a business from scratch. There were many late nights, moments of exhaustion, and times I questioned if I could really do it all. But I stayed focused on my “why” which is creating something meaningful for women like me.
So no, it wasn’t smooth. But it’s been worth it. The struggles became the foundation for something real, something that helps people and that’s all I ever wanted.

Honestly, my biggest mentor has been God and my husband. From the very beginning of Adore Her Skyn, my husband believed in my vision even before I had it fully figured out. He supported me emotionally, helped me problem-solve through tough moments, and constantly encourages me to push past fear and stay true to my purpose. His guidance, patience, and faith in me have made all the difference.
If you’re looking for a mentor, I’d say start by looking close to home sometimes the most valuable support comes from someone already in your corner. Beyond that, don’t be afraid to ask questions, connect with other entrepreneurs online or in your community, and share your story.
Networking doesn’t have to be formal, some of the best advice and relationships I’ve found came from just being open and honest about my journey. Lead with authenticity, and the right people will show up.
