Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Bell.
Hi Rebecca, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Your Best Elf is a company built upon the tradition of family and Making Merry Memories that will be cherished for years to come. And it all began with one simple hope: to give my kids a joyful Christmas in a season that felt anything but. What started as a passion project to bring a little magic into my own home has grown into a carefully crafted experience for families across the country.
Christmas 2020 was anything but magical. Like so many others, our family was navigating heartache, uncertainty, and the quiet heaviness that came with a year no one saw coming.
But instead of feeling festive, the task felt overwhelming. I was exhausted, emotionally spent, and yet deeply determined to make the season feel special. So, I did what moms do best—I got creative. I pulled together a few crafts, scribbled out some funny notes, and leaned into my background as a Speech Language Pathologist to turn each morning into something a little more fun, a little more meaningful. The elf scenes weren’t perfect—but they brought smiles, laughter, and a flicker of magic when we needed it most.
That flicker turned into a flame. Friends started asking for help with their elf setups. Before I knew it, I was carefully packaging up the very same magic I had created for my own children, sending it to kitchens, living rooms, and fireplaces far beyond my own.
From those humble beginnings, Your Best Elf was born.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like many small businesses, Your Best Elf has faced its fair share of growing pains. One of the biggest challenges has been keeping up with the increasing demand, especially during the holiday season when everything needs to be produced, packed, and shipped within a tight window.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Your Best Elf is a mom-founded small business based in Houston, Texas, created to take the stress out of the holiday hustle and help families make merry memories with their Holiday Elf Tradition.
I always thought I had to do it all. I wanted the handmade holiday crafts, the magical elf antics, the warm traditions my kids would grow up remembering because it feels like our kids are growing up even faster than we ever did. We’re constantly searching for ways to slow down the season, to connect within our homes, and to create the kind of memories our children will carry into their own holidays someday. That’s exactly why I created Your Best Elf.
I wanted to make the magic, but not at the cost of my sleep or sanity. I wanted to be present, not stuck on Pinterest or racing through the aisles of multiple stores for cotton balls, googly eyes, and plastic candy canes. So I took all those ideas—the fun, the magic, the meaning—and I wrapped them into one sell-out box: The Elf Kit by Your Best Elf. Designed by a mom, for busy families who care deeply about making the holidays count. It’s not just another Elf kit—it’s a memory-making tool, a tradition-in-a-box, and your solution to Christmas magic without burnout.
As a Speech-Language Pathologist by trade and mom of three, I infuse each Elf Kit with purposeful play. Scenes include elements that support development in fine motor skills, creativity, and social-emotional growth—while still being ridiculously fun. Because the real gift isn’t the setup. It’s the look in your child’s eyes when they find what their elf has been up to. It’s the laughter at the breakfast table, the hugs before school, the joy that lingers long after the Christmas season ends.
We only get so many Decembers with our kids under our roof. Your Best Elf is here to help you make the most of those fleeting, magical days—without the pressure of doing it all alone. This isn’t just a box. It’s 24 days of connection, wonder, and ease. It’s a ready-made tradition that gives you more time for what matters most: being present, making memories, and soaking in the season while they still believe.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
One of the most influential mentors in my life has been my dad. He has always had an entrepreneurial spirit, and I had a front-row seat to that drive from a very young age when he started his own party rental business. By the time I was ten, I was already part of the team—answering phones, taking reservations, helping with deliveries, and learning the ropes of small business life.
I was often my dad’s shadow, tagging along on jobs and watching how he connected with customers. He didn’t just drop off tables and chairs—he brought energy, laughter, and a sense of celebration with him wherever he went. Anyone who knows my dad would say he’s full of joy, always smiling, always fun, and genuinely one of the most jolly people you’ll ever meet. He taught me so much—not just about the practical side of business, like logistics and customer service—but also about the heart of it: relationships, resilience, and showing up with positivity even when things are tough. I got to witness both the highs and the challenges of entrepreneurship firsthand, and those lessons stuck with me.
His influence has deeply shaped how I built Your Best Elf. From the value of hard work to the importance of bringing joy to others, much of what I do today is rooted in what I learned following him around all those years.
