Inspiring Conversations with Voy Collins of VC Financial Solutions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Voy Collins.

Hi Voy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi, my name is Voy Collins.
I was born in Cambodia, Chinese by heritage, and I believe wholeheartedly that God has always had a plan for my life. One of my favorite verses, Jeremiah 29:11, has carried me through life’s toughest seasons.

As a child in a third-world country, my survival was uncertain due to serious illness. By God’s grace, my family and I survived the brutal Khmer Rouge regime and were blessed with the opportunity to come to the United States. I grew up in Central Texas and eventually relocated with my family to the north side of Houston, where I now serve the Conroe and Montgomery areas. My youngest son attended the Montgomery school system, and I’ve dedicated my life to teaching—continuing that passion today by educating families about financial security and protection.

About four years ago, I became a financial and living benefits specialist. I now help individuals and families upgrade their life insurance policies to include living benefits—so they don’t have to die to use them. I work with clients to build retirement strategies that offer premium bonuses, no market risk, lifetime income, tax advantages, long-term care coverage, probate avoidance, and more.

When I’m not working, you’ll find me traveling or spending quality time with friends and family.
If you’re ready to protect your family’s future and gain peace of mind, I’d love to connect with you.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it has not been easy. My journey has been filled with challenges, starting from childhood. Growing up in Cambodia during the Khmer Rouge era was terrifying and traumatic. My family didn’t know if I would survive due to serious illness, and we lived with constant fear and uncertainty. Escaping that environment and immigrating to the United States was a blessing—but adjusting to a new country, learning a new language, and building a life from nothing was a struggle all its own.

As an adult, I’ve faced many of the same struggles my clients face: raising a family, finding stability, and working hard to build a better future. Transitioning from education into financial services was a leap of faith. But it came from a deep desire to help people on a more personal level—especially when it comes to protecting their families and planning for their financial future.

Of course, not everyone is immediately open to what I offer. Some clients are skeptical about living benefits and the value of these policies—even though I work with companies that have been around for over 176 years. I understand that hesitation. After all, it’s their money, and financial decisions come with real fears and risks. That’s why I focus on education and trust—because when people truly understand the power of living benefits, they realize how life-changing they can be.

Through it all, my faith, my family, and a strong sense of purpose have kept me moving forward. Every challenge has helped shape who I am today, and I’m deeply grateful to turn my life experience into something meaningful by serving others.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I’m a financial and living benefits specialist, and I help individuals and families protect what matters most—their health, their income, and their legacy. I work with reputable, time-tested companies (some with over 176 years of history) to provide life insurance policies with living benefits, retirement planning strategies, and financial protection that gives my clients peace of mind.

I specialize in life insurance with living benefits, which means my clients don’t have to die for their policy to work for them. These policies can help with income replacement, critical illness, long-term care, and more—providing real-time help when people need it most. I’m also known for helping clients grow and protect their retirement savings through strategies that come with no market risk, lifetime income options, tax advantages, and freedom from probate.

What sets me apart is my personal approach and my passion for educating. I take the time to truly listen to each client’s unique situation, goals, and concerns. I’m not here to sell—I’m here to serve. My background in teaching has shaped how I communicate, break down complex topics, and build trust. And as someone who’s lived through real struggle, I bring empathy and honesty into every conversation.

I’m most proud of being part of a movement that helps people while they’re still alive. Too often, life insurance is seen as something you leave behind. But living benefits change the game—and I love being able to introduce families to options they didn’t even know existed. It’s incredibly rewarding to watch someone’s face light up when they realize, “I didn’t know I could do that.”

I want readers to know that VC Financial Solutions is built on faith, family, and a desire to empower others. Whether you’re saving for retirement, planning for your child’s future, or want to protect your income in case of a serious illness, I offer solutions that are tailored to your needs. I believe everyone deserves to be educated about their options—and I’m here to help you do just that, with honesty, transparency, and heart.

What makes you happy?
What truly makes me happy is protecting my clients with the right tools and making sure they’re getting the best value for their money. I take pride in knowing that I’ve helped someone not just get a policy—but get the right policy that fits their needs, protects their family, and gives them peace of mind.

There’s nothing more fulfilling than seeing a client’s relief when they realize they’re covered, or when they learn they don’t have to risk everything they’ve worked so hard for. It’s not just about numbers or policies—it’s about impacting lives and being someone they can trust.

Outside of work, my greatest joy comes from spending time with my sons, family, and close friends. Whether it’s a simple meal, a trip, or just quality time together, those moments remind me why I do what I do. Faith, family, and service—that’s what makes me happy and gives purpose to everything I do.
