Today we’d like to introduce you to Naka Alexander.
Hi Naka, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Naka Alexander, the creative force behind MultiDimensional Gal Luxury Designs (MDG), embodies innovation and passion. Born in Jamaica, Naka migrated to the United States and served in the Air Force before pursuing fashion. She earned a Bachelor’s in Fashion Design, a Master’s in Interior Architecture and Design plus a certification in Personal Styling solidifying her expertise. Naka’s love affair with fashion began at an early age. She often crafted and designed unique garments for herself and friends. These garments were made by local seamstresses with fabrics she sourced from local markets in Jamaica. Visionary, innovative, passionate are among the words we’d use to describe Naka. In short, Naka Alexander dwells and thrives in the world of creativity.
After overcoming personal and health challenges, she launched MultiDimensional Gal Luxury Designs, a brand that’s created for the dynamic yet fashion-forward women who balance numerous roles, from entrepreneurs, executives, to the stay-at-home moms. Naka is committed to helping women from all walks of life look and feel their best in every setting; as highlighted in our slogan, “In style from the Boardroom to the Boardwalk.”
Additionally, she also believes attitude and mindset are instrumental to achieving goals or navigating obstacles, personally or professionally. Adjusting those two elements drastically changed her life. Lastly, her life’s motto is LOVE, STYLE & GRACE and she encourages her MDG community to live by these simple rules. Yes, simple but not easy. Love; care deeply for each other, STYLE; despite what life throws your way, proper representation is key. What message do you want to project to the world about who you are? GRACE; the silent battle is a very real thing! Your interaction with someone could provide hope, signal goodwill, or change a life. Naka is now based in Houston, Texas with her husband, 2 daughters and mother. She has grand plans for MDG Luxury Designs and is very excited to keep sharing her creativity with the world.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This fun yet rewarding path definitely has not been a smooth road. It has been a journey of highs and lows. Starting and running MDG has taught me that entrepreneurship is equal parts rewarding and challenging. I’ve faced many struggles over the course of my business however, in recent times, like manufacturers missing deadlines, which has cost me several clients and opportunities and lead to me loosing capital. Those moments were tough, but it pushed me even harder to become more resourceful, patient and resilient. Every set back came with a lesson that shaped not only how I run my business but also how I show up for my clients. At the end of the day the obstacles have fueled my growth and made the wins that much sweeter. Giving up is NEVER an option.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a credentialed Fashion Designer and certified personal stylist. Through my brand, I design and manufacture clothing for the modern, fashion -forward woman who balances many roles, whether she’s an entrepreneur, executive, or stay – at – home mom. What I’m most proud of is my commitment to helping women from all walks of life feel confident and look their best in every setting. That vision is captured perfectly in my brand’s slogan: “In Style from the Boardroom to the Boardwalk.” What sets me a part is my ability to merge style with lifestyle. I don’t just create clothing, I create pieces that fit seamlessly into the many dimensions of a woman’s life.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5-10 years I believe we’ll see a major shift in how women approach both fashion and lifestyle. I see more women prioritizing health, self love and well-being. There’s a growing realization that when we are strong mentally, physically and emotionally we show up more powerful in every area of our lives. Fashion will continue to play a role in that transformation, not just as clothing but as a form of self expression and empowerment.
