Today we’d like to introduce you to Hilary Childers.
Hi Hilary , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey into the insurance industry was entirely unforeseen. For 14 years, I dedicated myself to agricultural science education at Huffman, Shepard, and Anahuac schools, driven by a passion for teaching and agriculture. I even spent a year and a half teaching landscape design to women offenders in the Texas State Prison system. My core motivation has always been to empower others with the skills and tools they need to succeed. As an FFA advisor, I proudly guided numerous students into advanced leadership roles within the organization and mentored state-qualifying teams.
In 2019, I experienced a God profound calling to enter the insurance industry. I embraced this new chapter with unwavering faith, quickly realizing that as an insurance agent, my purpose is to educate clients about their insurance portfolios and help them protect their assets and families from potential losses.
I served as an agent for Texas Farm Bureau until 2023, when I seized the opportunity to partner with Rollo Insurance and establish Rollo Insurance of Mont Belvieu. This partnership allowed me to build a dedicated team and foster a positive, growth-oriented office environment. Since January 2023, our business has experienced remarkable growth, now proudly comprising five incredible staff members, including my two adult children. Our mission is to serve and educate our clients, ensuring they obtain the precise coverages our client’s need.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The path in business and life is rarely smooth; it’s always full of bumps. However, true success lies in how you navigate these challenges. The tough market and industry shifts post-Covid taught me the importance of adaptability, strategic focus and faithfulness. Our priority became protecting our clients and carriers. This involved having difficult but necessary conversations with clients, diligently seeking affordable yet comprehensive coverage, and remaining steadfastly positive. Our persistence has paid off, and we are now seeing excellent results. The market is softened and the road is getting smoother, however our priority is protecting our clients and carriers.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am passionate about educating and supporting others, and I actively engage in various organizations and boards to contribute to the community. This involvement allows me to serve and connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds, ages, and career stages. While my family sometimes suggests I am overcommitted, I believe in living life to the fullest and utilizing the gifts I’ve been given. My purpose is to educate, serve, and guide others toward success. I am dedicated to serving my clients, family, church, school, and community. I truly care.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
A strong work ethic and an unwavering mindset. When faced with setbacks, I always get back up and persevere. If someone tells me I can’t achieve my goals, it only fuels my determination to work harder and find a path to success. I actively seek advice from successful individuals, incorporating their suggestions to continuously improve. I am committed to lifelong learning and never giving up.
