We’re looking forward to introducing you to Jesse Chavez . Check out our conversation below.
Hi Jesse, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Definitely intelligence. I think that if you are always open to building yourself up, learning from others and educating yourself in current trends then your integrity and positive energy all come together organically vs forced. Never underestimate knowledge or intelligence.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I own the Pacific Beach Allstars with locations across California and now one in Houston TX. I am self made and have had some help from my inner circle. I do not come from a long line of money or a upper/middle class family. Ive needed to figure things out on my own. From building this company with no financial backing to making sure I’m using any resources at my disposal so that I can overcome what some can overcome with their own backing (family etc.). Growing up low income, we always made it work and we were always determined to do our best.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
That being transparent or honest was a weakness. Last year I had a group of adults bully me from within my own company because of their own needs. Although I was transparent with what was going on in my life none of that was taken into consideration while I was relentlessly bullied. There was a moment where I considered hardening myself up, putting up walls, and retaliating. Luckily I was able to continue to walk in the standard I hold myself up to and let the bullies continue to do their thing with no attention of mine.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me that there are a lot of hidden lessons during that harsh phase you are going through. It taught me to take everything day by day until I was ready to do more. It taught me that you only loose when you stop trying.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
It is. What you see is what you get. When I opened my company I learned very quickly how draining it is to “make everyone happy”, so I decided from then on to unapologetically be myself under any circumstance in hopes that someone could see that and do that for themselves as well.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What light inside you have you been dimming?
Definitely my personality and want for socialization. Over the last year (being broken down) Ive shut myself off to the world to “revoke access” to myself from anyone else. Naturally I feel like this is something that with time will hopefully go away with conscience effort.
