Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Juliana Omokheyeke

We recently had the chance to connect with Juliana Omokheyeke and have shared our conversation below.

Juliana, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: When was the last time you felt true joy?
When I was at my birthday dinner with my best friends and family last month. I was very happy to be reunited with my loved ones. I had not had a day off in a long time, so it was nice to celebrate myself and enjoy the company of my loved ones.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Juliana Omokheyeke (OMO-KAY-EY-KAY), a singer/ songwriter from Houston TX. I started singing in church and school choir at the age of 7. Once I graduated high school, I moved to Chicago to pursue my dream and study music at Columbia College Chicago. While in college I released my first EP (Intuition) and filmed my first music video for my lead single (Me & My Girls). I graduated with a degree in music in May of 2019. Since then I have relocated back to Houston TX. I released my debut album “anonymous” in May of 2024. I also released a music video for my single “vibes” in August of 2024. I am now promoting my recent projects while performing live shows in Houston. My goal is to create music that is authentic to my experience while touching and inspiring others simultaneously.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
My mother taught me the most about work. From a young age I saw my mom working. She was a full time nurse while taking care of me and my siblings for all of my life. She would work long shifts and come home and change diapers. Her work ethic was admirable. I have no idea how she managed to get so much done and still have energy to give back to her community.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You are beautiful just the way you are. You do not need a nose job. You do not need to alter anything about your appearance. What you are the most insecure about will turn into your superpower.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say loyalty and trust matters the most to me. It takes me a while to let my guard down. I cannot build a relationship with you if I cannot trust you. Once I have established trust with someone, I will be loyal and we will be friends for life. Me and my friends always joke that we will be friends forever and our kids will be best friends too.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel the most at peace when I am wrapped up in blankets with no makeup on watching a good movie after a long day. I love relaxation and me time. I also love a good bath.
