Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Alena Warfield of Cypress

We recently had the chance to connect with Alena Warfield and have shared our conversation below.

Alena, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I start each day by reviewing and organizing my inbox—clearing out the clutter and prioritizing tasks to stay focused and efficient. From there, I dive into creating client quotes and responding to questions about itineraries or pre-travel details. This forms the core of my daily routine.

I also dedicate time to checking supplier portals for updates, promotions, and exclusive offers that might benefit my clients. If something stands out, I consider how best to share it with my audience through marketing or outreach.

In between, I incorporate travel-related social media content and work on SEO projects to help grow my visibility and reach. Each day is a mix of planning, communication, and strategy—all centered around creating unforgettable travel experiences.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Alena Warfield—a travel advisor with a passion for creating unforgettable experiences. I specialize in destination weddings, dream vacations, and custom itineraries tailored to each client’s vision. Whether it’s a romantic escape, a magical Disney adventure, or a once-in-a-lifetime group getaway, I handle every detail so you can focus on the fun.

What makes my services unique? It’s the personal touch. I combine industry expertise with thoughtful planning, turning travel dreams into seamless, stress-free realities. With me, you’re not just booking a trip—you’re gaining a trusted partner who cares as much about your journey as you do.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
That’s an easy one—definitely my mom. As a single mother, she juggled work, school, and parenting, all while setting an incredible example for me. (She also raised me to be a nearly perfect human—kidding)

In all seriousness, she showed me—whether she meant to or not—that when you want something, you’re the one responsible for making it happen. It might mean making sacrifices along the way, but with focus, passion, and consistency, you can achieve your goals.

What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
I had a really difficult client situation a few years ago that was unfortunately, completely out of my control ( thanks airlines) it ripped me apart and I felt like maybe I was not cut out for this industry or that I didn’t have the knowledge, capacity etc. to be in the industry. Of course when in the midst of a tough situation doubt creeps in.
This situation continued to go downhill and the client blamed me for ruining the trip (yikes). Eventually they took legal action for the losses of their trip, I was sure this would be the end of my career. Fast forward to a few weeks after this was settled, I found myself more determined than ever. I had this new found motivation to research, and better myself as an agent at every possible avenue. Because of this, today I feel like I am more equipped to handle most anything clients throw at me, and when I don’t, I know exactly who or where to turn to for support and information.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
Declining travel protection… say it louder for the people in the back!

Time and time again, travelers assume they’re immune to life’s curveballs—until the unexpected happens. Maybe it’s a missed connection, a last-minute illness, a family emergency, or a weather event that shuts down an entire airport. Trust me, in the travel industry, we’ve seen it all.

That’s why travel insurance isn’t just a box to check—it’s peace of mind. It’s having someone in your corner when things don’t go according to plan. It can cover non-refundable expenses, protect your investment, and save you from serious stress (and serious costs) when things go sideways.

So before you skip it to “save a little money,” ask yourself—can you afford to lose the full value of your trip if something goes wrong? Travel protection may seem optional, but when you need it, it’s everything.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Flying economy… I’m kidding. Mostly.

But in all seriousness, if there’s one thing I’d stop doing, it’s cutting corners on the trips and experiences I really want. For too long, I’ve tried to save here and there—whether it’s choosing a less convenient flight, skipping the upgrade, or passing on something truly bucket-list-worthy—just to stay under budget.

The truth is, travel is one of the few things you spend money on that actually makes you richer. If an experience is important to me, I’ve learned that it’s worth investing in. I don’t want to look back and wish I had just gone for it—taken the better flight, booked the room with a view, or said yes to the adventure.
