An Inspired Chat with TAHER MOHAMMED ALI of Spring & Cypress

TAHER MOHAMMED ALI shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi TAHER, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is a normal day like for you right now?
I usually wake up around 7 in the morning and start the day by boiling eggs for myself and my 3-year-old daughter — we’re the only ones in our family who enjoy them. While she eats, I help her get ready for the day. My 10-year-old daughter, who prefers toast or cereal, is usually getting ready for school with some help from my wife. My wife handles most of the morning routine — packing lunchboxes, making sure kids are set for school,

After breakfast, I get ready and head to work. I typically work until around 8 PM, so I miss the family dinner most nights. My wife manages the evening chaos — homework, dinner, and bedtime routines — sometimes with a hand from my parents, especially when things get hectic.

By the time I get home, it’s usually late, and I have dinner quietly while catching up on the day. I wind down for a bit and usually go to bed around midnight.

Let’s make your brand shine—the Prism way.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child, I believed that I had to have everything figured out early—that success meant knowing exactly what you were going to be and following that straight path. Over time, I’ve come to realize that growth isn’t linear, and success often comes from being open to change, taking risks, and learning through experience. The journey matters just as much as the destination.

Prism Signs TX (brand/founder perspective):
When we first started out, we believed that business success came solely from sticking to one path and doing one thing really well. But over time, we’ve learned that adaptability and creativity are just as important. What sets us apart today is our willingness to evolve—offering new technologies, design trends, and custom solutions while still holding on to our values of quality and service. Growth happens when you’re willing to change your beliefs.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear that held me back most was the fear of failing. I worried that if I didn’t get it right the first time, I wasn’t good enough. Over time, I’ve learned that failure isn’t the end—it’s often the beginning of something better.

One of our biggest fears in the beginning was taking on projects that pushed us outside our comfort zone. But we learned that growth comes from those challenges. By facing that fear, we’ve been able to take on bigger, more creative work—and build stronger trust with our clients.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One big lie I’ve noticed in many industries is that success comes quickly or easily. The truth is, real progress takes time, effort, and learning from mistakes.

In the signage industry, a common myth is that signs are just about looking good. The bigger truth is that great signage is about storytelling and building connections—it’s a powerful tool for growing a business, not just decoration.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
If we retired tomorrow, our customers would miss the personal touch we bring—the care, attention to detail, and commitment to making every project feel like a partnership, not just a transaction.
