Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Ashley Marquez of Galveston

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Ashley Marquez. Check out our conversation below.

Good morning Ashley, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day are about setting the tone with intention, energy, and clarity. I usually start with a quiet moment—whether that’s prayer, scripture, or journaling—to align my mindset and stay grounded in purpose. From there, I check in on any urgent client messages, new listings, or showing updates. I’ll glance at the market data, review my calendar, and set my top priorities for the day.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a Realtor®, investor, and founder of GTX Realty Group, based in beautiful Galveston, Texas. I help people buy, sell, and invest in real estate across the island and surrounding areas, including short-term rental properties, beachfront homes, and full-time residences. Our team was recently voted the Best Real Estate Company in Galveston in our very first year in business, which is something I’m incredibly proud of.

What makes GTX Realty Group special is our heart-led approach—we’re deeply invested in our clients and in our community. We don’t just help people find properties—we help them find the right lifestyle, whether that means a fishing retreat, a family home by the beach, or a profitable investment. I love finding creative ways to connect with people through social media, community events, and real estate education.

Right now, I’m especially excited about growing our team, mentoring new agents, and helping more people discover all the hidden gems Galveston has to offer.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
The person who taught me the most about work is my dad. Growing up, I didn’t always recognize it at the time, but he was constantly working hard to take care of our family. He built a successful business through dedication, grit, and long hours, and looking back now, I realize how much of an impact that had on me. His work ethic wasn’t loud or flashy—it was consistent, steady, and deeply rooted in providing for the people he loved. That example shaped how I approach my own career: with commitment, purpose, and a drive to build something meaningful for others.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could tell my younger self one thing, it would be: Trust the process and don’t be afraid to take the leap. There were times I second-guessed myself or waited for the “perfect moment,” but some of the most rewarding opportunities came when I stepped out in faith—even when it felt uncomfortable. Looking back, I’d remind myself that growth often comes through the unknown, and that every step, even the hard ones, are shaping you for something greater than you can see right now.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
A cultural value I protect at all costs is integrity. In both life and business, I believe in doing the right thing—even when no one’s watching. Whether I’m representing a client, leading my real estate team, or mentoring a new agent, I always aim to be honest, transparent, and dependable. Reputation matters, and I want people to know that when they work with me or my team, they’re getting someone who will show up, follow through, and genuinely care. Integrity builds trust, and trust is the foundation of everything we do.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m near the water—whether it’s watching the sunset from our balcony, taking a quiet walk on the beach, or fishing with my husband. There’s something about the ocean that brings me back to center. It reminds me to slow down, breathe, and reflect on what really matters. In those moments, I feel connected to God, grateful for the life I’ve built, and recharged to keep moving forward with purpose.
