Sharon Majano of Tomball on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Sharon Majano shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning Sharon , it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Honestly, I’m lucky to be in an industry I love. Doing hair never really feels like “work,” especially when I’m surrounded by such a great group of women. We support each other, we laugh a lot, and we get to do what we love every day. That kind of energy keeps me grounded and inspired—even on the busiest days.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Sharon Majano, owner of Lotus Boutique Salon in Houston. I’ve been in the hair industry for over 15 years, and what started as a passion for beauty and fashion growing up in New York has turned into a career I genuinely love.

This year we’re celebrating 5 years in business – what began as a small two-chair setup has grown into a thriving salon with eight chairs and an incredible team. We recently moved into a brand-new space to match that growth, and we specialize in custom color, extensions, and clean, health-conscious beauty.

Lotus has grown a lot over the years, but our focus has stayed the same: delivering high-quality work in a welcoming, supportive environment.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My husband. From the very beginning, he’s believed in me in a way that’s hard to put into words. He’s always seen what I was capable of—both creatively and as a business owner—even in the moments when I doubted myself. He’s the one who encourages me to dream bigger, to take the next step, and to keep going when things feel overwhelming.

Whether it’s late nights working at the salon or navigating tough decisions, he’s been by my side every step of the way. I truly couldn’t have built Lotus without him, and I’m constantly reminded of how lucky I am to have someone who believes in me that deeply.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Hard work really does pay off – just stay focused and keep going, even when it feels slow. You’ll figure it out as you go. And along the way, you’ll find your people-the ones who make the hard days lighter and the wins even sweeter. You don’t have to do it all alone.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
Support over competition! In this industry, it’s easy to fall into comparison, but at Lotus we’ve built a culture where collaboration, growth, and mutual respect come first. I’m intentional about creating an environment where everyone feels valued, encouraged, and safe to grow -not just as artists, but as people.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say I showed up fully. For my family, my team, and my clients. That I built something with heart, treated people with kindness, and led with integrity. I want to be remembered as someone who created space for others to grow, who didn’t take shortcuts, and who kept going even when it was hard. And if they say I made people feel seen, supported, and a little more confident in themselves, then I did something right.
