We recently had the chance to connect with Kiana Mcloughlin and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Kiana, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
I lose track of time when I’m given a task that requires deep focus and creativity. Whether I’m making a vision board or working on a project, I love the feeling of fully immersing myself and letting my mind run free with purpose. I have a very overactive brain, and these kinds of creative, hands-on activities help me channel that energy in a way that feels grounding. Hours can pass, and I’ll look up feeling not just productive—but more like myself again.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! My name is Kiana McLoughlin, and I’m a London-born esthetician now based in Houston. I currently work at Lush RX Med Spa, where I specialize in facials and skincare treatments that help people feel confident and radiant in their skin. I discovered my passion for aesthetics through my own journey with acne—once I was able to clear my skin, I knew I wanted to help others do the same.
I live in the city with my two cats, and outside of the treatment room, I love dancing, singing, and creating content around beauty, wellness, and self-expression.
What makes my approach special is how personal it is—I’ve been through the same skin challenges as many of my clients, so I lead with empathy and care. One of my biggest goals is to eventually own my own business and continue helping people feel empowered, beautiful, and seen.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My mother and my auntie have always seen me—really seen me—even before I could see myself. They constantly told me how strong I am, even when I felt the opposite. For the longest time, I thought I was just another girl—nothing special, maybe even a little lost. But they never stopped believing in me.
Over the last few years, I’ve been through a lot, and I finally understand what they meant. I see my grit, my growth, and the strength they always spoke about. I’m proud of who I’m becoming. I love them to the moon and back for always sticking by my side—even when I’ve been a little crazy sometimes.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me who I really am. It showed me my strength, my resilience, and my ability to keep going even when everything around me felt like it was falling apart. It humbled me and reminded me to be gentle—with myself and others.
Success feels good, but it never challenged me the way pain did. It never forced me to dig deep, face myself, or rebuild. Suffering taught me to trust my own growth, to find purpose in the hard moments, and to appreciate every small win. Most importantly, it showed me that even when I feel broken, I’m still worthy, still becoming, and still here.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
That softness is strength. A lot of people see being emotional, sensitive, or vulnerable as weakness—but I see it as power. It takes courage to feel deeply in a world that constantly tells you to toughen up.
I believe you can be gentle and still have grit. You can be kind and still have boundaries. Being soft doesn’t mean you’re weak—it means you haven’t let the world harden you. That’s something I’ve learned through my own journey, and I hold onto it no matter how many people don’t understand it.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. How do you know when you’re out of your depth?
I know I’m out of my depth when my peace starts to slip away. If something begins to cost me my mental health—my sleep, my joy, my sense of self—it’s no longer worth it. I’ve learned that just because I can push through something doesn’t mean I should.
Energy is sacred, and if a situation drains more than it gives, that’s my sign to pause, protect my spirit, and realign. Peace is my compass now.
