Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Raveen Alexis

We recently had the chance to connect with Raveen Alexis and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning Raveen, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day looks like oil pulling my teeth with coconut oil, feeding my cats, my dental and skincare routine, sipping room temperature keylime water, and a 15min meditation!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Raveen (pronounced like raven), and I create safe and soft places for people to land. I’m a wellness guide, sharing the practices of yoga, guided journaling, guided meditation, sound healing, and words of wisdom.

I’ve been hosting guided journaling workshops since 2016, and it has been the most rewarding offering. I support people in deepening their self-awareness and addressing different topics through journaling and community. We have really created a growing community of individuals who show up willing to work through some very vulnerable things, and they support one another so generously.

I’ve been teaching yoga since 2020, and I love supporting people in connecting more deeply to their bodies as a means of tapping into their intuition. I want us all to be able to listen to ourselves and hear that deep voice inside that reflects who our souls truly are. My classes are challenging, empowering and supportive.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My grandpa saw me clearly. He talked to me about entrepreneurship before I was even in my teens. He got me my first computer to learn basic tasks like typing, sending emails and assisting. He started me on my health journey, always keeping fruit and supplements in the house. He created routines for me like getting my hair done every month, staying up-to-date with dental appointments, and keeping a daily prayer practice, Simple consistent tasks like that set a tone for how diligence and success works. He even put me in iceskating lessons and took me to the rodeo every year, which expanded my mind around how hobbies and fun could keep me inspired. He truly helped me to see my potential and maybe I didn’t realize it like that as a child but, as an adult, I definitely feel his love and influence showing up in my life now.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I have micro moments of this all throughout entrepreneurship because it’s really so hard. And I don’t even think I’ve scratched the surface of it all, but defeat and hopelessness does creep in at times. The beautiful thing that keeps me though is that I know I will never truly give up.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I’m committed to not taking things personally. As I continue to grow and have my own human experience, I have more compassion for others. I understand how nuanced this life is, and we are all different. I know most things aren’t personal, and I’m committed to not internalizing what happens around me.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I’m definitely doing what I was born to do, and I understand that it’s not just one thing. Everything, big or small, contributes to the way I show up in this world, and none of it is conventional. I truly move out of intuition, prayer, faith and inspiration.
