We’re looking forward to introducing you to Asia. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning Asia, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Right now a normal day for me looks like going over post from the day before and rely to comments and messages that I missed during the night. After that, I will then look at the content planner to see what content will be posted and what time it will go live. Once that’s done, I will then make of list of things that need to be edited, filmed, and scheduled for the remainder of the week. After figuring out what I need to do, I then start the process of recording content. Pre-production is when I plan out hooks, scripts for voice overs, on screen text and things like that. After that is done, I will record at least one to three pieces of content. Once the videos are filmed, I go into post-production where I rough cut the video cutting out anything that isn’t needed in the final copy of the video, record the voice over if needed then add any on screen text and transitions before scheduling it to me posted later in the week. Every day is not the same but this is how a not so busy day looks for me.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Asia and I am a social media manager and content creator located in Pearland, Texas. I work with different brands from personal, to skincare, to anything else that might need my help. Not only does my brand include content planning and posting but I also include full marketing strategies, a rebrand which has new mood boards, and everything else a brand new or old can need into to each their full potential and an newer audience on social media.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
I would say the person who saw me before I saw myself would be my great grandmother. She was the person who named me. As I was growing up, she would always be there to remind me to stay true to myself no matter how the world and people around me change. When we moved from Chicago to Houston, the distance only made a relationship grow stronger because of the morals and values that she and my parents instilled me from a young age. If I was having a bad day or needed some kind of encouragement, I knew I would be able to call her and she would make me feel better about the situation. She has always brought me up on day where I felt like my light was dimmed and I will forever keep that in my mind as I go through my days.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I was able to tell my younger self one thing, I would tell her no matter what to keep going. I always get in my head to the point where I would miss out on things because I felt like I wasn’t the person for the job or I felt like I wasn’t qualified enough which wasn’t true. In some spaces I was overqualified, and I was just too much in my own head to be able to jump at the different opportunities that came at me until I went and started getting them on my own.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Whose ideas do you rely on most that aren’t your own?
My creativity is something that I hold close to my heart, if I’m not being creative I feel like I am not myself. Since my creativity is so personal to me, on some projects I so into a deep focus. That can be harmful to me and my mental health so during the moments I need to get out of my own head I will go to my younger sister and my best friends. They are the people who tell me if my ideas make sense, if I could add or change something no matter what it is. I always catch myself running ideas by them when I’m working on a project because they are able to see the project as a viewer.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel the most at peace when I am creating. Even though some parts of the process can be stressful, being able to be my creative self puts me at ease. When I’m able to be creative, I am able to be vulnerable and comfortable in my own way.
