We’re looking forward to introducing you to Regina Andrews Duarte. Check out our conversation below.
Regina, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Painting, oils, acrylics, textures, etc… playing with design. Creativity feeds my soul. It’s a way to bring up pleasurable feeling that satisfy the spirit. Another activity that draws attention is political involvement. It brings purpose and provides a space to to be with like minded individuals/groups. In addition, it’s always a pleasure to meet up with new and old friends in the political arena.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?

Growing up in a family with a Salvadorean mother and European/American father the opportunity to learn Spanish was a gift, Another door has been open to welcome those Spanish speakers wanting a place to work out concerns. Furthermore, cultural awareness is a feature that remains important in understanding the direction of aiding others.
A home private practice is the setting at this time while two Shitzu dogs settle in for the session at hand. The environment is comfortable and pleasant allowing people to open up in comfort.
As a seasoned psychotherapist it is always an honor to hear people’s stories while working towards good health and wellbeing.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
Becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker was the outcome of several inherent characteristics and familial influences. There was always a sensitivity and empathy that needed to be managed. Learning to set limits and boundaries was a positive outcome. Additionally, studying family of origin dynamics enlightened my perspective and direction. Finally, mentors through different walks of life, leaves an abundance of gratitude and lifelong appreciation. .
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
Growing up in a family that did not encourage the expression of emotions and conflict/resolution skills has moved into forming a career that promotes these traits.
Hiding sensitivity and empathy became unsustainable. Coming to terms with my authentic self freed me up and was a catalyst to work in a helping profession. Authenticity became my friend, guide and empowered a sense of self.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
I admire my husband’s character, humility, sensitivity, intelligence, care for others and consistency. He remains an approachable man as he interacts with others with joy, attentiveness, interest, and listens with ease.. He teaches and reminds me it’s beautiful being “you”.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What will you regret not doing?
Keeping a work/life balance is of the utmost importance. Leaving this world having satisfied attending to a little bit of everything would feel satisfying and complete.
Work, family, art, travel, socializing, purpose, feed the many parts needing attention.
