Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Glenda Demas.
Hi Dr. Glenda , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
When you are meant for more, God will provoke you.
For myself, Dr. Glenda “Evette” Demas, those words aren’t just a mantra — they are the blueprint of my life.
.
My academic path led me to earn a PhD in Health Psychology and become a Licensed Professional Counselor, but my vision stretched far beyond degrees. I founded Pearls of Change Wellness, a practice dedicated to holistic healing, and launched MyMyndMyMental, a movement blending mental health awareness with culture, wellness, and community advocacy.
Today, my work spans from boardrooms to ballrooms: delivering clinical trainings for global brands, hosting luxury fundraisers to benefit mental health organizations, and publishing groundbreaking research on integrative care. Yet, through it all, my mission remains simple — to remind people that healing is possible, wellness is essential, and purpose is non-negotiable.
Dr. Demas stands as a testament to resilience: as woman who has turned pain into power, disruption into destiny, and provocation into purpose. My story is still unfolding, but one truth remains — I knew I was meant for more, and want to make sure others believe they are too.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all. My journey has been anything but smooth — but I believe that’s exactly where the lessons and growth were hidden.
There were seasons of almost giving up — academically, professionally, and personally. Balancing motherhood, career, and my own healing hasn’t always been graceful, but it has always been real.
The struggles along the way taught me resilience, humility, and perseverance. They forced me to get comfortable with discomfort — to see rejection as redirection and disruption as divine provocation. Financial sacrifices, long nights of study while raising children, and the pressure of carrying both vision and responsibility often felt overwhelming.
But those very struggles shaped the leader I am today. They gave me the ability to sit with others in their pain, to build businesses with empathy at the center, and to understand that the road to purpose is paved with both challenges and triumphs.
I’ve learned that smooth roads don’t make strong travelers — and my strength is the proof that every detour and obstacle was necessary.
We’ve been impressed with Pearls of Change Wellness & MyMyndMyMental, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the Founder and Clinical Director of Pearls of Change Wellness, a mental health practice rooted in the belief that true healing must honor the whole person — mind, body, and spirit. We specialize in therapy that blends clinical expertise with compassionate care, helping individuals, families, and organizations navigate challenges like anxiety, trauma, grief, and burnout.
What sets us apart is our commitment to integrative healing. We don’t just treat symptoms — we explore root causes, weaving together traditional therapy with complementary practices such as mindfulness, movement, and wellness education. That holistic lens allows us to meet clients where they are and walk with them toward sustainable change.
Beyond the therapy room, I also created MyMyndMyMental, a platform and movement designed to merge mental health awareness with culture, community, and lifestyle. From luxury fundraisers that spotlight mental wellness to grassroots workshops and trainings in corporate spaces, MyMyndMyMental pushes the conversation forward: making mental health accessible, relatable, and part of everyday life.
Brand pride? For me, it’s that both Pearls of Change Wellness and MyMyndMyMental stand as more than businesses — they’re safe spaces, platforms of advocacy, and bridges between clinical practice and community healing.
What I want readers to know most is this: our work is about transformation. Whether it’s one-on-one counseling, corporate wellness training, or community events, everything we do is guided by the mission to break stigma, empower people, and remind them that mental wellness is not a luxury — it’s a necessity.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I Like Best About Our City
Houston is its diversity and resilience. This city is a mosaic of cultures, stories, and experiences that come together to create something vibrant and powerful. Whether it’s the food, the art, or the people, Houston has a way of making everyone feel like they belong. I also love the spirit of giving here — the way our community shows up for one another, especially in times of need. That’s something truly special.
What I Like Least About Our City would be the lack of accessible mental health resources across all communities. Houston is growing fast, and while we’ve made progress, there are still barriers to care — whether that’s financial, cultural, or awareness-based. For a city with so much strength and potential, I’d like to see us continue building systems that make wellness and healing available to everyone, not just a privileged few.
