Hi Shalonda, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
From the very beginning, Shalonda Jacobs carried a calling on her life. As a child, she experienced a deep and life-changing loss when her mother passed away from a septic wound—something that could have been prevented with proper care. In that moment of heartbreak, the Lord planted in her a passion and a purpose: to devote her life to healing others so that no family would have to endure the same kind of loss.
That seed grew into a fire that never went out. With steadfast faith, perseverance, and an undeniable gift for wound care, Shalonda became a nurse practitioner known not just for her clinical excellence but for the compassion and integrity that define her character. Her patients know her as someone who treats the whole person, not just the wound, and her outcomes and reputation speak for themselves.
In November 2023, Shalonda stepped fully into that calling by founding Priority Wound Care & Wellness. What began as one woman’s mission quickly became a beacon of hope for patients and families across Southeast Texas. In just a short time, Priority has become a trusted name in advanced wound care—known for reducing hospital readmissions, accelerating recovery, and delivering holistic, patient-centered healing.
Behind this rapid growth is not only Shalonda’s vision but also a team of certified wound care specialists and compassionate staff who share her heart for excellence. Together, they have created a culture where healing is more than medicine—it’s ministry.
And the story is still being written. Priority Wound Care & Wellness is on a trajectory of continued growth, guided by faith and rooted in the belief that the Lord will expand its reach as far as He sees fit. For Shalonda, what started as a childhood tragedy has been transformed into a lifelong mission of hope, healing, and purpose—proof that God can turn even the deepest wounds into a testimony that heals others.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Being a business owner comes with many challenges—long days, tough decisions, and moments that test both strength and endurance. But at Priority Wound Care & Wellness, we are guided first and foremost by our faith. It is the foundation of everything we do and the compass that keeps us moving forward, even when the road isn’t easy.
