Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Jacqueline Burnett-Petite of Humble

Jacqueline Burnett-Petite shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Jacqueline, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
I’m proud of the journey I’m on in building my relationship with Christ and strengthening my faith and spiritual walk. It’s a choice I made completely on my own—not because someone told me to, but because I truly desired it for myself. I’m grateful and excited to be walking in my faith and striving to live a life more like Christ. I’m proud of the progress I’ve made, the changes I’ve embraced, and I look forward with joy and hope as I continue to grow stronger in my spiritual relationship with Him. I also know I am still a work in progress, but I have God’s love and grace carrying me every step of the way.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Jacqueline Burnett-Petite, and I am the founder of JP Advising, a business dedicated to helping people achieve both financial stability and academic success. What makes my brand unique is the way I combine financial advising with educational support—two areas that are deeply connected when it comes to building confidence, independence, and long-term success.

Through JP Advising, I offer personal and small business financial services such as budgeting, debt management, tax preparation, and retirement planning. On the educational side, I provide math tutoring, financial literacy programs for both youth and adults, homework help, and subscription-based academic support for students of all ages. My mission is to simplify complex topics, empower people with knowledge, and give them the tools to build a secure future.

What’s most special about my story is that this journey started with me helping family and friends, and it grew into a passion-driven business that now serves people nationwide. Right now, I’m excited about expanding resources that not only educate but also inspire—whether that’s through personalized financial planning, classroom-style learning, or the tools I’ve published, like my Cornell Notes notebook and financial planning guides.

At the heart of everything I do is my belief in equipping people with the confidence to manage their finances and education successfully, while also encouraging them to take intentional steps toward building the life they truly want. “Bridging the gap for future generations.”

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
For me, what often breaks the bonds between people is miscommunication, unspoken expectations, or allowing pride and hurt to get in the way. In everyday life, those small cracks can turn into distance, and in faith, they can cause us to pull away from the very connections God wants us to nurture.

What restores those bonds is grace, forgiveness, and intentional effort. Choosing to listen with understanding, to forgive even when it’s hard, and to show love the way Christ calls us to makes all the difference. In both faith and daily relationships, I’ve learned that when I lead with compassion and humility, broken bonds can be healed—and sometimes even come back stronger than before.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one kind thing to my younger self, I would remind her that she is deeply loved and stronger than she realizes. I’d tell her she doesn’t need approval or acceptance from anyone but God, because her true identity is in Him. Once she knows and believes that, she can walk in confidence and peace without trying to meet everyone else’s expectations. I’d encourage her to keep faith at the center, to trust God’s plan, and to remember that with commitment, hard work, and His guidance, she can accomplish anything she sets her mind to.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friend would probably say that what really matters to me is my kids, my relationship with God, and my family. They’d also say I care deeply about being a good person and living in a way that reflects my faith—through kindness, integrity, and service. Helping others isn’t just something I do, it’s part of who I am, and my faith drives me to keep pouring into people’s lives and making a positive difference wherever I can.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I believe I’m doing what I was born to do, and I know this because of the passion I have and how it aligns with who I am—the characteristics, values, and gifts that make me uniquely me. It hasn’t been an easy road, but my drive and dedication have helped me stand firm. What truly pushes me forward is helping others and witnessing their happiness and success; knowing that I can make a difference in someone’s life fuels my purpose and affirms that I am on the path I was meant to walk.
