Story & Lesson Highlights with Anna Svetlik De La Rosa of Southeast by Sugarland

We recently had the chance to connect with Anna Svetlik De La Rosa and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Anna , thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Watching my daughter graduate from college at Texas A&M on Aug. 09, 2025, was definitely a moment that made me beam with pride and laugh a little too, because as a mom I can’t help but see her as my little girl, no matter how grown she is. Seeing her in her cap and gown, I couldn’t stop smiling. It was one of those moments where I thought, ‘Wow, I did something right.’ That memory will stay with me forever.”

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, my name is Anna Svetlik De La Rosa, and I wear a lot of hats that all come back to one mission helping people live with purpose, clarity, and confidence. I’m a lifestyle columnist, writer, and creative entrepreneur with a passion for turning life lessons into stories that inspire. My work blends business, mindset, health, and everyday life into approachable wisdom that my readers can actually use.

What makes my brand unique is that it’s built on real-life experiences both the challenges and the victories. I believe in being authentic, transparent, and a little bold, whether I’m writing about protecting your peace, building habits, or celebrating the milestones that matter most.

Right now, I’m the Director of Advertising at The Bay City Tribune in my home town. I am especially excited about expanding my weekly newspaper column into larger projects, and building resources that encourage others to embrace leadership, self-expression, and growth. My story is one of resilience, faith, and constant reinvention, and I hope that through my writing, others see themselves and feel inspired to step into their own power.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
A moment that really shaped how I see the world was becoming a mother and then watching my daughter, Hannah, grow into the incredible woman she is today. Most recently, seeing her graduate from Texas A&M filled me with so much pride it reminded me that love, guidance, and resilience create legacies that live on in our children. One of the biggest shaping moments in my life also came from going through challenges I never thought I’d survive times of financial strain, loss, and rebuilding myself from the ground up. Those moments taught me to look at the world through the lens of resilience. Now, I don’t just see obstacles; I see opportunities for growth and transformation. Altogether, these experiences have shown me that the world isn’t something that just happens to us we have the power to shape it with our choices, our mindset, and the habits we commit to daily.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me lessons that success never could. In my hardest seasons, I learned resilience, patience, humility, and the power of faith. Pain showed me how to rebuild, how to truly appreciate the small victories, and how to connect more deeply with others through empathy. Success is sweet, but it doesn’t strip you down the way suffering does it doesn’t force you to grow roots, it doesn’t reveal your true strength. My suffering gave me depth, compassion, and perspective, and those are things no amount of success could ever teach.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
The public version of me is 100% the real me, confident, driven, and showing up full force for my work and community. But there’s also a playful, private side with quiet reflections, moments of stillness, and a love for making people laugh. Both sides are me; I want to succeed, inspire, and have fun doing it, unapologetically.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Absolutely. That’s actually a kind of quiet power that I do on a daily basis. When you choose excellence not for recognition, but because it honors your own standards, your own integrity, and your own growth, that is powerful. Even if no one ever sees it, your effort shapes you, sharpens you, and leaves a mark on the world in ways you might never notice.

It’s like planting seeds with no guarantee of a harvest you’re still cultivating strength, skill, and character. Doing your best consistently becomes a reflection of who you are, not who others think you are.
