Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Brent Fowler of Heights

We recently had the chance to connect with Brent Fowler and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Brent, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
What I’m most proud of building is my character. It’s not something people can directly see, but it’s what guides me and keeps me anchored as i navigate throughout life. A lot of that character comes from facing adversity and learning how to overcome it, those moments force you to grow in ways nothing else can. Faith without works is dead. At the end of the day, the houses I build may come and go, but who I become in the process is what really lasts.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Well to keep it short my name is Brent Fowler, I’m a Real Estate Developer and Builder in Houston/Austin TX. Like many others in college i had little direction as to what i wanted to do in life. I took a liking to videography, but during the pandemic I found my passion for Real Estate and worked my way up to building homes. Through my brand, BrentFlips, I share my real journey and try to stay as transparent as possible because I want people to see what it truly takes to build something from the ground up.”

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
I’ve been blessed enough to be born in a family with strong values and a strong foundation. This set the standard for my life early on and even though i was quite rebellious to it as a teen i understood ultimately right from wrong. All that to say my maternal grandparents played a huge role in my life. I actually lived with them at one point and the wisdom they both instilled within me i believe put me in a place of maturity that far exceeds my age. Even today i reflect on the lessons learned from them that help me in daily situations.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
The only limits are the one’s you place on yourself. Don’t let the world tell you what’s possible but push to the brink of the edge and discover what’s possible. Only you have the vision set before you to walk and achieve.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
I think a lot of smart people get it wrong by overanalyzing everything. Planning and strategy are important, but life and business doesn’t always follow a perfect formula. Sometimes the best opportunities show up when you allow things to unfold organically, rather than trying to control every outcome. In my experience, balance matters — prepare well, but also trust the process and be willing to move with the flow of life.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That i made a positive impact on the people around me and left the world better than what i found it. Although i’m still in my 20’s as i grow older i understand the importance of positively affecting those around me. No matter how successful i may become or whatever accolades i get it pales in comparison to bringing joy and hope to others.
