We recently had the chance to connect with DatKid Smoove and have shared our conversation below.

Hi DatKid, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
We have recently had the opportunity to work with the Turf Feinz x Turf inc & Heath Visuals on a visualizer for a song titled “She Want Me”.

Turf Feinz were featured in the Kendrick Lamar Super Bowl halftime show

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hard2Reach Entertainment (sometimes styled “Hard2Reach Ent.” or “Hard2Reach Entertainment”) is an independent distribution label and entertainment brand founded by Bay Area rapper DatKid Smoove (birth name: Zackery Michael Taylor)

We focus on showcasing independent artists as well as local businesses in regard to finding diamonds in the rough and displaying businesses and artists whom have the ability to take the next steps within their carreer(s)

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
Kenechi Ubani was someone, now Las Vegas’s top engineer, who believed in Hard2Reach since 2012.

He could see the vision way before everyone else and maintained a relationship that sticks with us today.

Melissa Ching, founder of Obstacle Illusion, RedWall Studios, Johnny Santos, William Genero and Adrian Flores are also notable names and entities that have put their belief in the brand and terminology “Hard2Reach”.

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
When I realized other people had the ability to reach within them.

It was something bigger than just ourselves wanting to achieve OUR dream.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Whose ideas do you rely on most that aren’t your own?
We collaborate for the idea of bringing a dream into reality, but look for the utmost byproduct of something that all producers, artists and people involve, come together to create.

We rely most on the idea of the artist, the individual, the creative and the videographer to perform and create something meaningful to their audience and themselves.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
We would stop being stagnant and continue to push everyday beyond the normal 9-5.
