Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Brittiany Barnes

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Brittiany Barnes. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Brittiany, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
My First 90 Minutes of the Day

6:30 a.m. – 7:00 a.m.
I start the morning by getting myself ready for the day. This includes a quick routine to freshen up, review my schedule, and mentally prepare for the flow of activities ahead.

7:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.
This hour is dedicated to preparing children for before-care school transportation. I help them get dressed, ensure their belongings (backpacks, lunches, and supplies) are organized, and oversee that everyone is ready on time for school drop-off. I keep this time structured but positive, so the children begin their day with energy and focus.

8:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.
After school transportation, I return home to prepare breakfast and tidy up the main living and work areas. This includes cleaning the kitchen, putting things back in order, and making sure the space is set up for a productive day ahead. This short reset helps create a calm and organized environment for the rest of the day’s responsibilities.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, my name is Brittiany Barnes, and my journey has been anything but ordinary. From helping my mother run her home daycare as a child, to navigating life as a young single parent, to eventually building my own businesses—I’ve always had resilience, creativity, and entrepreneurship at my core.

Today, I’m the founder of BBMgmt, an agency that brings over five years of experience in entertainment marketing, branding, and strategy. What makes my work unique is that I don’t just focus on the “business side”—I build structures that help clients succeed long-term. Over the past year alone, BBMgmt has worked with more than 30 clients, helping them increase revenue through fully integrated, social-first campaigns.

In addition to my agency, I’ve stayed rooted in my passion for child development. I opened a registered home daycare in 2024, bringing my 14+ years of childcare experience back full circle. My story is about perseverance and building opportunity out of challenges, and my mission is to continue creating spaces—whether in business or childcare—where growth, support, and success can flourish

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
The relationship that most shaped how I see myself is the one I had with my mother. Growing up, I watched her balance two jobs while still running her own home daycare, which made me independent at an early age. She became my first role model as an entrepreneur, showing me that even in tough circumstances, you can create opportunities for yourself and others.

Her strength during challenges—whether losing a home during the recession or raising me largely on her own—instilled in me resilience, determination, and the belief that I could also build something meaningful. That relationship taught me how to be self-sufficient, how to value hard work, and how to see entrepreneurship not just as a career path, but as a way to create stability and freedom for myself and my daughter.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear that has held me back the most has been the fear of failure—not just for myself, but for my daughter. From becoming a single parent at 19 to starting over multiple times after setbacks like losing housing, jobs, or even businesses during COVID, I’ve always carried the weight of making sure she had stability. That fear sometimes made me second-guess big risks or delay pursuing opportunities because I didn’t want to put us in a position where we’d have to start over again.

At the same time, that fear also motivated me. It pushed me to keep going even when I felt uncertain or unprepared, because I knew I couldn’t afford to give up. Over time, I’ve learned to see failure less as something to fear and more as part of the process of building the life and businesses I want.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
I believe that everything I went through—every setback, every loss, every moment I thought would break me—was part of a bigger plan shaping me into the person I am today. From helping my mom run her daycare as a child, to becoming a single parent at 19, to losing businesses and starting over, each chapter prepared me for the work I’m doing now with both my daycare and BBMgmt.

I can’t prove it, but I truly believe that my struggles weren’t random—they were lessons and stepping stones. They gave me the resilience, creativity, and empathy I need to not only build my own success but to help others build theirs too.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
I think people will most misunderstand that my legacy is just about business success. From the outside, it might look like I built companies, managed clients, and opened a daycare—but my true legacy is about resilience and impact. It’s about showing that no matter where you start, or how many times life knocks you down, you can build something meaningful for yourself and your community.

What people may not see is that behind every accomplishment is a story of sacrifice, single parenting, and starting over with nothing. My legacy isn’t just about entrepreneurship—it’s about breaking cycles, creating opportunities for others, and proving that struggle can be turned into strength.
