We’re looking forward to introducing you to Michael Thomas. Check out our conversation below.
Michael, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: When was the last time you felt true joy?
When I dip out for a mid-day run or catch a random movie, I’m reminded—I come from a line of men who did what they had to do to provide. I’m the first generation that actually gets to do what I want to do for a living. That’s why those small pauses hit different. Gratitude always leads me back to joy.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Michael Thomas, a Creative Director and entrepreneur with 15 years in the game. For me, it’s never just about the project — I’m building a creative ecosystem where commerce, culture, and education all connect to help both brands and people grow.
At the center is Kreadiv & Koo, the agency that drives strategy, storytelling, and design for major brands. Then there’s Kreadiv Worx, the hub and studio where we bring ideas to life through film, photography, podcasts, and content. And finally, Good Distrkt, the non-profit arm that creates education, access, and opportunities for the next generation of creatives.
What makes my work different is that I’m not just running companies — I’m connecting the dots. The vision is a self-sustaining creative community where creatives thrive, brands grow authentically, and education ties it all together.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
My grandfather always told me — never ask someone for money, only ask them for work. With just a 6th grade education, he taught himself how to farm, fix cars, and build homes. That’s where my work ethic comes from.
When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
As a kid, I was hyper-aware of my surroundings and deeply sensitive to the struggles that came with poverty. Drawing and sketching became my escape whenever the weight of it all made me feel sad.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief you used to hold tightly but now think was naive or wrong?
I used to think holding grudges and chasing revenge could fuel success. I was wrong. If you give someone credit for your downfall, you also give them credit for your rise — and I wasn’t willing to do that. Carrying that kind of negative energy only poisons your mind and keeps you stuck.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What are you doing today that won’t pay off for 7–10 years?
I think scaling and creating this ecosystem will create a bunch of successful creatives, but we might not see its true impact for 10 years.
