Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Nani Nicole of Houston

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Nani Nicole. Check out our conversation below.

Good morning Nani, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Something outside of work that brings me joy is reading or playing pickleball depending on the day!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello! My name is Nani and I am a believer in Jesus Christ. I am a wife, mother of 2 children and worship director/coordinator for the local church in Houston, Texas. I also have been given the great privilege to song-write and record music for 5 years now. I recently joined the Integrity Music Latin label and have been enjoying the journey since. I am currently working on releasing a full length album in Spanish called, Víene Ya for early 2026.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
The very first two people who saw me for who God viewed me as were both my parents. My father and mother had a lot of patience for me growing up. They knew my purpose in Jesus Christ, before I could see it for myself. Though I had trouble with my identity as a young teen, they poured scripture over me daily. I could never forget this particular experience with my parents; I was about 15 years old and my dad was crying while looking at me. At the time I couldn’t understand why, but there was an expression of pride written all over his face. He told me how God had a special calling for me. He began to share some visions the Lord placed in his heart of me and we shared beautiful words of gratitude and encouragement to one another. this went on for about an hour or so. We all cried together that night.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Many times. I struggled a lot with comparison. I believed the lie that I wasn’t good enough. I thought if I didn’t look like other people who were in the same lane as me, something was wrong. Maybe.. I wasn’t called. Maybe.. I didn’t have the purpose I was told I had. But.. through prayer and fasting, the Lord began to show me these visions for myself. I started to declare the promises of God over me. The Lord has the final word. And it wasn’t until I made the choice to BELIEVE Him for who He says He is, that I found my purpose.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
The more views. shares, likes and streams mean you’ve made it. People tend to think that in order to be successful in the industry I work in, you have to be famous in the public eye. 1 Peter 2:9-10 says, “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.” We praise HIM for what HE’S done. This takes the spotlight off of us, and allows the the light to shine upon Jesus.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What will you regret not doing?
I would regret never chasing after my dreams. I want to honor God in everything I do. I want to PLEASE him. My biggest regret would be not hearing, “Well done, good and faithful servant!”
