An Inspired Chat with Marinda Turkson-Oladimeji of Houston

We recently had the chance to connect with Marinda Turkson-Oladimeji and have shared our conversation below.

Marinda , it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A typical day for me is busy, structured, and centered around balancing the many roles I hold. As a Licensed Childcare Administrator, business consultant, therapist, and owner of Greener Pastures RTC, my mornings usually begin early with phone calls, emails, and reviewing compliance documentation to ensure that every facility I oversee is aligned with state standards. I also check in with staff, respond to urgent resident or operational needs, and often participate in meetings or facility walkthroughs.

In addition to running my treatment center, I work as a consultant for group homes, treatment centers, and shelters, advising other leaders on compliance and operations. My afternoons are often dedicated to drafting or revising policies, preparing audit binders, training staff, or supporting fellow owners. Alongside this work, I’m building my own private therapy practice, which is both exciting and deeply fulfilling.

As a wife, mom, and business owner, I carefully juggle professional and family responsibilities. Evenings are my time to transition into home life finishing up reports, planning ahead, and most importantly, being present for my two beautiful kids, Zayne and Zorah. Whether it’s helping with homework, dinner, or simply enjoying time together, they keep me grounded and motivated.

My days are full, but they are fueled by purpose: helping youth-focused programs succeed, growing my private practice, and ensuring that my family continues to thrive.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Marinda, and I’m the owner of Greener Pastures Residential Treatment Center, a consultant for group homes, RTCs, and shelters, as well as a wife, mom, and multi-business entrepreneur. Through my work, I help youth-focused facilities maintain compliance, strengthen operations, and provide safe, effective environments for the children they serve. What makes my brand unique is that I combine firsthand ownership experience with deep knowledge of licensing standards, giving my clients practical, proven strategies that truly work. Alongside Greener Pastures, I run catering and consulting services, and I’m passionate about building businesses that make a difference in people’s lives. Right now, I’m focused on expanding my RTC network while continuing to help other owners navigate compliance with confidence.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My mom. She’s always seen my potential, my strengths, and my purpose long before I fully recognized them in myself. Her belief in me has been a guiding light, shaping the person I am today.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Never. There was a time I partnered with a friend and everything fell through, but I refused to stop. Over the years, I’ve started multiple business venture from launching a home health agency to running other successful enterprises and no matter the challenges, I’ve always pushed through. Every setback became a lesson, and each step forward proved that perseverance pays off.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely. What you see publicly is the same person I am behind the scenes driven, passionate, and committed to helping youth-focused programs succeed. I show up authentically in every role I play whether I’m running Greener Pastures RTC, consulting for other facilities, managing my businesses, or being a wife and mom. There’s no separate personal; the dedication, resilience, and heart people see in public is the same energy I carry in my everyday life.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What will you regret not doing?
I would regret not fully pursuing my vision to build, grow, and leave a lasting impact through my residential treatment centers and other business ventures. Helping youth, guiding facilities into compliance, and creating opportunities for others isn’t just my career it’s my purpose. If I didn’t follow through on those goals, I’d feel like I left something meaningful unfinished.
