Hi Jorden, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
Slow wakeup with my husband and dogs, pour over coffee and then a long sunrise walk along the waterway !
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Chef Jorden Dolan, the executive chef and founder of Savory Events, a boutique catering company based in The Woodlands, Texas. We specialize in luxury, chef-driven experiences that highlight organic, seasonal ingredients sourced from local farms, ranches, and artisans across Texas.
What sets us apart is our intentionality—from sourcing ingredients and crafting menus to the design, service, and storytelling behind every event. Whether it’s a supper club pop-up, a private retreat, or an elaborate tasting menu, every detail is meant to feel thoughtful, vibrant, and deeply rooted in place and season.
Right now, I’m working on expanding The Woodlands Supper Club, a monthly pop-up dinner series celebrating our local food community, and exploring the possibility of turning it into a permanent space that doubles as a catering kitchen and community gathering hub.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I used to think I was shy and didn’t make friends easily. But the truth is, I’m actually very outgoing and love connecting with people – it just takes me a little time to warm up !
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I almost gave up in 2020. The cancellations were pouring in – six, nine, even twelve months out – and we were refunding tens of thousands in deposits with no clear end in sight. It was devastating. But instead of closing up shop, we pivoted. We leaned into travel catering, bringing our services to private clients in other states – and the rest is history !
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
Some say that supporting small, regenerative, and organic farms at scale isn’t sustainable or realistic. But the truth is, the more we choose to support local farms, the more of them will thrive – and the more viable it becomes. When enough of our industry commits to purchasing locally, small farms can sustain themselves, grow, and feed their communities in a healthier, more connected way.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel the most at peace when I’m on a long outdoor run, far from home or my car, without my phone, It’s magical !
